According to the Child Welfare Information Gateway, approximately half a million youth in the United States experience foster care placement each year. The risk of trafficking increases when an individual runs away from a foster care placement, and youth who have experienced trafficking are grossly overrepresented by those in the child welfare system. The Dressember Network provides vital research and resources to the anti-trafficking movement and also supports prevention programs among vulnerable youth in the U.S. and beyond. By giving to Dressember, you help provide training and support to prevent children from becoming victims in the first place. A criminal record also acts as a constant reminder of their trafficking experience and confronting that can cause retraumatization. Survivors are routinely burdened with numerous records in multiple jurisdictions, requiring a comprehensive national approach to ensure that survivors have access to the full range of relief in a trauma-informed and strategic way. I stand with survivors and hope you will consider joining me in advocating for criminal record relief for those forced to commit crimes while under the control of their trafficker. #Dressemberbound continued Prompt: Thrifted #Disneybound: WALL-E 🪴 Children all over the world deserve to live free of exploitation. The International Labour Organization shares that for 160 million children that is, sadly, not the case. Child labor is more than working long hours or doing day-to-day chores. The ILO describes these actions as actual labor, often conducted under the minimum working age, that is directly depriving boys and girls of their childhood and keeping them from gaining an education—and in many ways, it is stripping children of their dignity, personal freedoms, and safety (as these forced actions are often very hazardous). I am committed to taking a stand against the exploitation of children everywhere and that is why I am doing the Dressember style challenge.
