#dressed for

So there's this new channel on DirecTV called Cinémoi (French for 'my cinema') that apparently is a European TV channel that tries to combine film and fashion. They do run some classic films but the closest I can come to watching 'reality TV' and not want to hurl the remote through the flat-screen TV is apparently a French series called "Dressed For" here in the USA

"Dressed For" goes to all the European and US couture shows and is hosted by Mademoiselle Agnes (pretentiously she does not give a last name).

Anyhoo she & her film crew go to all the shows & then viciously mock them (i.e. she either dresses up in a piece of the couture --or something like it-- and as she is clearly the size of a stick insect it usually fits her okay) and then goofs around looking & being ridiculous.

If you can catch the Winter 2013 edition of "Dressed For" you will see that (for once) she covers Channel in Japan (because Karl Lagerfeld & Channel flew a plane-load of fashion press like her and her film crew 1st class to Tokyo gratis to see the show, otherwise I guess to the Western press, Asia apparently has no fashion scene)

Anyway Agnes & crew think Golden Week was invented in 2012 as a reaction to the March 2011 disaster to get the Japanese shopping again (never mind that Japan too is in a deflationary spiral, the only places with economic problems per Team "Dressed For" are Europe & the USA), or that Golden Week is actually a series of long standing Japanese holidays that all fall so close to each other that the Japanese just take the whole time off (and not necessarily to go shopping)

Cause like doing research on a foreign country takes like effort & stuff and is soooo hard...and like unstylish (or something)

Besides not 'getting' Japan (in this case because they didn't try to in the first place so no sympathy for that) Agnes mostly mocks the Western shows full of yofuku (Western clothing) including Channel Japan Winter 2013. We see almost zero wafuku (Japanese clothing, unless school-girl uniforms on kids on the streets of Tokyo count) which is a shame but hey anyway it is fun watching the European fashionistas wonder why the Japanese aren't buy-buy-buying everything yofuku in sight while they spend about an hour mocking all the clothes they need everyone (including the Japanese) to buy to prop up their lives.

That is the biggest (unintentional) laugh of all: that "Dressed For" really doesn't 'get it' either.

Just like 99%+ of us don't 'get' couture and are therefore disinclined to unquestioningly fork out huge sums of money for whatwver it is these fashion houses luxury brands (which are almost all owned by giant global money-grubbing corporations with shareholders they'll do anything for who think you'll unquestioningly buy ***ANY*** piece of crap with a logo on it at regular intervals and ever inflating prices forever)...and which is likely the reason the whole "luxury brand" machine is in trouble...

Of course you see the yofuku emperor really doesn't have any clothes, it's only the fashionistas who are clueless & just starting to realize something isn't quite the same anymore...
