11. What do you like best about this fic? That it made me dive in deep into trying to understand Ada and how she might have adapted to becoming Headmistress. Also that it challenged me to write a situation I honestly didn’t think I could (the whole “we had a one night stand and now we work together”). 

12. What do you like least about this fic? That it took such a long time to write and I agonized over getting so many things JUST RIGHT. 

Ada sleeps like a rock and probably passes out as soon as her head hits the pillow. She doesn’t move too much in her sleep unless it’s a particular stressful time, then she tosses and turns and feels insanely guilty about it the next morning because Hecate suffers from occasional insomnia and Ada hates to wake her. When they first spent nights together and Hecate couldn’t sleep, Ada would try to stay up with Hecate but Hecate would kiss her forehead and tell her not to worry. Hecate never wants her to lose sleep just to keep Hecate company. So Ada leaves notes in Hecate’s marking or the books she knows Hecate will read when she can’t sleep. They always make Hecate smile and the nights feel a little less lonely. 

If they fall asleep together, they’re either in one of two positions; Hecate laid on Ada’s chest with Ada running her fingers through Hecate’s hair and Hecate stroking her thumb along Ada’s side or Ada playing big spoon with their hands intertwined. They do drift apart during the night but Hecate always moves closer to Ada when she wakes up. I also think Hecate “ever protector” Hardbroom always sleeps closest to the door. During holidays, they sleep in and the nights they spend together during term, Hecate never needs to set an alarm because Ada has perfected the ability to wake her in the morning (usually with promises of coffee and occasionally the option to skip breakfast duty which Hecate never takes but appreciates).

35. Tell some backstory details about one of your characters in your story ________. Since I’m not sure which story you’d like backstory details for, I’ll just give you a random headcanon as it pertains to Ada Cackle. I am convinced that Ada fell in love with Mona Spellbody somewhere in their friendship. Sometimes I think it’s requited for a time before Mona met whoever Maud’s granddad is and sometimes I think it’s unrequited. 

48. Favorite genre to write in. Romance, specifically of a sapphic nature. I’m just trying to be the brown lesbian Nora Ephron.
