the first watch through, like three or so years ago, i didn’t really like akutagawa. i mean, i liked him in that ‘oh holy shit you are a dick’ way but that was kind of it? it wasn’t the hardcore attachment i have now.
but it was around the time of the second season and rewatching the first that happened to coincide with me going to trauma therapy and getting diagnosed with ptsd and that was when he became My Favorite.
which in hindsight makes sense. i basically looked at him and went ‘yeah i get it, i really do, but we’re getting better whether we like it or not it.’

i’m trying to write a reply for my rp blog and i was just hit by the fact that akutagawa lost an entire childhood to trauma and joining the mafia and literally views himself (and therefore others) as a tool that needs to have value or else be discarded and i just want him to be okay.
