“It is not the way of dragons to die,” they had told me.
“Yes, knights come and knights go, slaying and capturing as they must, but dragons continue in from story to story, book to book,” they had said.
“Dragons near and dragons far will not disappear. We may not be burning down villages or marrying brides, but we still bring rain, bring mischief. At the wink of an eye we are here, we are still here,” they said.
“Dragons never die. They shall survive long past the last human being utters our name. Within dragons is the old world, is magic. And through this, we shall live forever.”
