just got back from my first appointment with dr. patrick. as soon as i got there an old man collapsed in the lobby and an ambulance came. nice way to be introduced.
so dr. patrick walks in and the first thing he says is "oh my GOD you are PALE! are you anemic? are you SURE? you REALLY look anemic, when was your last blood test? they tested for that are you SURE?" and aside from that i think the visit went well. he ordered for two things: an ultrasound to look at my gallbladder(getting it tomorrow) and a medication that will help my stomach empty faster. if it provides relief within the first few days we'll know what my problem is or at the very least have an opportunity to try a barium meal and other diagnostics that i can't do right now. i start that medication after the ultrasound tomorrow. i'm checking in with him in 2 weeks and he'll mail me my results and call about anything important.
overall he was really thorough and he had gone over my records and everything before i even got there, which was nice. he actually listened to what i said and didn't rush things and it was very easy to communicate my issues to him. he seems like a really good doctor, i can see why everyone says he's the best in town. then again it WAS a first visit, and those always seem to go well. his secretary was really nice too, she had connections at the imaging center and made sure to get me an early appointment and she kept complimenting my hair.
i also talked to my dad earlier to get insurance information. i could tell by his voice that he was really worried and meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeh i feel bad but it honestly hurts to talk. i hope he understands.
