When do you think Jane eyre is set?
ohh i like this question!! from what i know it was set before the victorian era (before 1830). i found this out bc i was curious about the accuracy of the costumes in the adaptations lmao and i stumbled upon this blog post and this one
while the story didn't happen during that period, it is considered a victorian novel due to its time of publication. however, the adaptations portray the story as if it was set during the victorian era perhaps bc of the gothic elements… which is interesting!! bc isn't austen's northanger abbey (similarly gothic) also set before the period? so yeah creative choices were made and now we're here (there are probably other reasons though)
