What if Bianca survived?
a dark!nico au
10 year old Nico, grinning from ear to ear when his sister comes back alive from the quest.
He and Bianca help get rid of the skeletons.
He doesn’t scream at Percy, he doesn’t run. He stays at Camp Half Blood.
He has a great time, having all sorts of demigodish fun with Bianca, climbing the rock wall, playing capture the flag.
Until, Thalia gets a message from Artemis that the hunters need to move off once again.
When Bianca breaks the news, Nico is fuming. He had only had his sister again for what? A week? And now they wanted to take her away from him again?
Bianca tries to calm him down, promising him that she’ll visit in a month or so.
Reluctantly, he agrees.
11 year old Nico hasn’t seen his sister for months. The last time he saw her, it was after that stupid quest.
She even missed his birthday for Hades’ sake. It was the first time within his memory that he had a birthay, ever, as there were no birthdays in the lotus hotel.
He’s bitter, she broke a promise. He knows it isn’t her fault that she can’t visit him, but it doesn’t matter. All he wants to see is his sister.
Another month passes. It’s April now. He’s angry at his sister, or so he thinks. Was she ever going to come back?
It’s May, and finally, finally, his sister visits camp. He can’t wait to tell her about all that has happened when she was gone, especially about his crush on Percy, who thankfully, was off visiting his mom.
Nico is happy, happier than he’s been for a while, shoving all his feelings of anger and annoyance away.
But the smile falls off his face when he realises that his sister, who knows he’s at camp, stays with her hunter friends to chat and not him.
He feels like Bianca just put him in second place. What did the hunters have that he didn’t? They were siblings, full blood siblings. The hunters were just her friends.
Bianca comes up to him, finally, at the end of the day, just to say hello. Nico is angry, the resentment is bubbling just below the surface, like a volcano going to explode.
His sister didn’t even care enough to see him before the end of the day, staying with her stupid friends.
She tries to tell him that she’s sorry she missed his birthday, and that she’s sorry she hadn’t been there for him, but nothing goes in.
The volcano implodes.
Nico’s mad, mad at his sister but most of all, mad at himself.
He’s mad that he wasn’t able to contact his sister, he’s mad that he couldn’t make her stay with him.
Bianca tries to calm him down telling him that she couldn’t talk to him because she was busy with the hunters of Artemis and that it wasn’t his fault.
Slowly, Nico stops being so mad at himself, and tries his best to enjoy his time with his sister before she leaves.
Bianca’s right, he realises after she goes off once again. It isn’t his fault or his sister’s, it’s the gods’ fault.
Without the gods, his sister wouldn’t be taken away from him, without the gods, he might have lived a happy life.
Weeks passed and he became more angry, closed off. He was mad at the gods and wanted to show it. But while he was at the stupid camp he couldn’t.
So on one faithful night, he flees camp. No one wanted him there anyways.
He’s missing for months, and no one seems to care. Except for Will Solace.
Will doesn’t give up hope and tries to search for Nico. But to no avail.
Nearing the 18th of August, someone is summoning skeletons into camp, skeletons that are unstoppable.
And the next time Luke is seen, it’s not just Ethan standing by his side. It’s Nico.
