I have one of you those “stand on your feet for 8hrs” jobs.
One of those “stand on your feet while you satisfy customers” jobs.
One of those jobs that you get paid shit to do, while people secretly judge you because you’re so low on the social ladder.
One of those jobs that you feel like you’re working your butt off, stressing about shit no one else even gives a fuck about.
I have one of those jobs that I’m so tired, that on my days off, I’m just happy to lie in bed; grateful to finally be horizontal after being vertical for so long.
One of those jobs… You know what I mean.
…
And it irritates me.
It irritates me that it’s so hard to try to achieve something nowadays. That the most you could hope for is a shitty shift supervisor position.
That if you want to be comfortable in life you have to slave away, day in and day out, plastering a stupid smile on your face. Worrying about everything. Worrying about school, about rent, about living in general.
What kind of system is this?
A system that tips the scales in favor to a minor minority of the population. How is this fair? How does this make sense and why have we let this bullshit go on for this long?
I don’t know. I’m tired of this.
I’m tired of serving people who have never been pushed to serve.
I’m tired of having a shitty job and having people tell me that suffering builds character while they themselves have never suffered.
I’m tired of the way things are.
I’m ready for a revolution.
I am usually one who is very vocal about the occurrences of injustices in our world and that has not changed. However, I am having a hard time keeping up with all that is going on, simply because it is so much. Everywhere you look, you hear about something else happening. I did not want to rush in developing my opinions and introspectively analyzing my responsive feelings. I feel swallowed by all that is happening and I feel overwhelmed by the hate that is fueling many of these occurrences. I could spend days speaking on each and every one of the headlines in recent news but the truth is while they are individual events, they are all systematically connected. The AME massacre, the deportation in the Dominican Republic, the relentless gentrification of traditionally non-white areas in urban cities, the merciless and senseless killings of people of color, young and old, the discrimination against people who leave their homes looking for a better life, the otherization of people who don't perfectly fit into the debilitating boxes created by our society, the people who are starving while others are wasting, the abuse of people who are made helpless, .. this list can literally go on forever .. are all produced by the same root.
I will not let this get me down, but let it be known that I am way beyond sick and tired of this crap. The problem is the system. We need to realize that we are both pawns in and products of the system. We need to be fully aware of the way we have been brainwashed from day one to think a certain way and believe certain things. We need to be unafraid of breaking the mold that has been set and when we have out moments where we fall back into the mold, we need to be strong and resilient against re-conforming and break the mold again. We need to be smart about the way we use the tools that the system has given to us. In the words of Audre Lorde, "the master's tools will never dismantle the master's house. They may allow us to temporarily beat him at his own game, but they will never enable us to bring about genuine change." We must enable ourselves. We must be constructive in our response to these injustices. We must come together and dismantle this horrible system together. I can't tell you what will come after the system is dismantled, but I do believe that it can, should, and will be much better that what we have now. The revolution may not be tomorrow, but it is coming. We just need to get together to make it happens.
Note: my use of WE is inclusive. It transcends race, class, ethnicity, gender, religion, ability, sex, age, and nation boundaries (to name a few of the boundaries that have been socially constructed a forcefully shoved down our throats by the structure)

The government's perception of education is a profitable enterprise, since we tolerated the fact that ignorance is a prevailing trait of our lineage. When are we going to disprove that? When it's already too late? When wisdom is a commodity at a high price? When it's value is equivalent to money? Since when has knowledge become so cheap?
