Reality good practice today, which I was especially grateful for because it started rough. The first video was themed BE FEARLESS, and it's been so excited about it from the name, but I struggled to connect. My body felt sore and out of sorts after a week of too much work and too little sleep, and the practice moved fast. Usually I love a fast practice, but today I felt like I couldn't keep up. I finished the practice, but it didn't sink in.
Then as I lay in savasana, the next video auto-played, and I listened to Adriene talk about how we need to be where we are when the practice doesn't fit our energy (is she psychic or what?) and keep checking in on our feelings, as they change from minute to minute and it's easy to forget to stay curious about them. So I checked in on my body and realized, like, no I'm not not feeling yoga today. I struggled with that one practice, yeah, but I wanted more.
I'm so glad I kept going. The next practice was awesome. I was braver in my transitions and actually landed DD➡️runner's lunge but, more importantly, I had FUN with those energetic transitions (imagine that!), just trying hard, seeing where I was. I tried a few times to hop from downward dog to forward fold. Did I succeed? I mean, whatever, I got there eventually. I enjoyed it.
Really challenging and wonderful one-legged balance sequence in the middle. One-legged mountain pose to warrior III, then directly into...I don't have a name for this, but crossing one leg over the other thigh, bending the standing leg and doing forward fold. I had to stand once or twice because my ankles aren't strong enough but very intense and challenging and fun and I felt so much stronger than I felt a month ago.
Good vibes. I'm going to go eat sushi by the pool and enjoy this beautiful day, this beautiful life where I get to work so hard at things that are so profoundly worth working towards.
