Perfect pitch = the ability to recognize a note just from hearing it. For example, if you played the first note of a song, a person with perfect pitch would be able to tell you what the note was, even if they hadn’t heard the song before.
Relative pitch = the ability to recognize intervals between notes. For example, if you played the first note of a song, a person with good relative pitch who already knew the song would be able to sing the rest of the song pretty accurately, even though they don’t know the exact notes they are singing. This is because they know how much to go up or down from the previous note.
