you see, I never thought I'd say this, but
I kind of hate drawing Nerif. It's not like drawing Ish'kafel or Harbinger, where the design is so alien you can make it extremely detailed or inorganic without it feeling inherently wrong. Because any design for Oracle that strays even a step too far from the original does feel inherently wrong, but at the same time, the outfit and motifs are incredibly fun to play with!
I mean, I've experienced this before—tugging at the world and its heroes like a rogue Weaver—it is the very basis for my fanart project, after all. But this concept specifically, it just breaks me.
"you see, after buying that vanguard, my balls grew 100%"
"what."
"and so did my death count but i think that's unrelated honestly"
i'm sorry but the intrusive thoughts won (again)

the biggest mistake in the last decade of dota's balance, just one thing i'd like to say - besides "I don't care about Every Single Hero being seen in the pub spaces, maybe some heros can just be garbage because they're inherently hard to balance around, FUCK requiring every Sniper game to have two well-orhanized jump heros" - is that it's way too fucking easy to push waves now. literally everyone can do it casually, the risk is entirely in being caught out by the enemy, but 5 seconds after getting into attack range the wave itself is gone. just way to easy to delay pushes for minimal risk.
Hey, guess who correctly predicted Oracle would get a persona skin
So, uh—today I discovered Weaver’s innate was reworked.
One must imagine my surprise upon doing so, because in the last few months I was doing some custom hero/game tests centered on Weaver using a fairly similar ability…
…loosely codenamed Threads of Fate.
Not the first time something like this happens, of course, but I’m surprised (and somewhat amused) these coincidences still happen to me.
Anyway, don’t be surprised if I seem a little inactive. Other activities, projects, and research (along with the duties and needs of a human) all eat up a lot of my day and don’t leave much time for illustration. I have been writing notes on the new Impdom NPCs and species guides, but there’s not much in the way of visual references yet.
Also, I have picked up embroidery as a little side thing. It’s fun, even though I’m not quite sure about posting it here. Feels a little personal, and my camera skills are not up to my standards. We’ll see.
I may cross-post/reblog some of the modding/game dev stuff from my junk blog, though—mainly the 3D modeling and environmental design posts as those are more relevant to this blog.
