I need this ship to survive. Whenever I see people shipping them or posting fanart or fanfictions, my mood goes up no matter how much crumbs I need to chase and gobble up. (Seriously, this is over forty years and this ship hasn’t died out, it’s surprising how long this endured)

(I did what I can to make the colors closer to their personalities and the clothes close to what it would look like in Ancient Rome. The AU would be about D who did not want to become the emperor because of his dhampir nature (being an illegitimate child but acknowledged by his father, the emperor, as his true heir the moment he breathed) and his desire to carve his own path, thus he left the empire willingly and wandering around as a lone warrior and fighting against bad guys for payment. When the priest delivered the oracle to the magistrates that the God desires the most beautiful woman as his wife in return, they sought out D (I know it's normally the father to marry off his daughter to some random man but this is a special case) as he gets paid to escort Doris safely to the capital to marry her off to a God inside the temple for good fortune, good harvest and peace. During the journey, Doris refuses to be offered up like a sacrificial lamb and doesn't play along with divination and would constantly try to escape from him or offer to pay him in double but he is not really the guy who breaks his words or deal. It would be kind of a slow burn romance, thriller, action, comedic like kind of thing as they slowly built trust, respect, understanding, dynamic and comfort despite the dangers and the conflicts as both are trying to defy their own fates in their own way.)
