Summary: Local teacher finally snaps and Remus thinks that's very sexy of him. Roman comes to the realisation they're all royally fucked.
Or
Logan being the Orange Side self-indulgence.
CW: Sexual innuendo, mild violence, Logan drags Roman quite bad here, kind of psychological torture in a part I guess, it's more like painful telepathy (if there's anything else tell me).
âWhere is he?!â
Roman appeared inside Remusâ domains, scrunching up his nose at the smell.
âIs this about the sex doll? I thought you didnât like that birthday presentâ.
âYou know perfectly well who Iâm referring to, so stop playing dumbâ.
âOh, if you wanted to play you could have just said so!â
Remus stood up from the sofa, throwing his nail file onto the pile of trash on the floor. He drove his hand into some slimy monstrosity and pulled a bunch of papers that stuck to his hand.
âHow about I crucify you with flytrap paper and gut you out? Mommy said itâs my turn to watch you hang from the ceiling now!â
âThatâs it, youâre doneâ, Roman said, pulling his sword.
The prince whacked Remus with the hilt of the katana, a not-as-violent-as-expected disappointment, the usual. Then he kicked him in the stomach, making him take a step back and chuckle.
âLeave him aloneâ a voice came from the side.
Roman saw a menacing figure enter his field of vision.
What?
The guy wore a pair of plain black jeans with Loganâs belt. A feeling of dread crawled through Roman. He looked like a twisted parody of the side Roman had been sent to look for while the rest explored the corners outside Remusâ control. He wore a black dress shirt with the first few buttons undone and an orange tie hanging undone between the lapels of a black leather jacket. His hair was a complete mess as if someone had been pulling at it.
It felt so uncanny, seeing a weird copycat of Logan, but edgy and without glasses.
âWhat the hell Remus?! Is this another one of your friends? Did you send Logan to this disturbingâŠâ
âI said LEAVE HIM ALONE!â
Roman turned around, quivering with recognition. It sounded just like when Logan screamed falsehood but filled with venom.
He squinted at the unfamiliar side.
His heart dropped.
âLogan?â
âGet. outâ.
âBut⊠everyoneâs looking for you! What is this disguise? Are you trying to cosplay Deceit or something? I guess that doesnât make sense, the outfits are completely--â
âShut up!â Logan screamed again.
Roman felt the sound of the room vanish as if he had entered a vacuum, he could only hear Loganâs voice, big and echoey. His vision began to blur and tint orange. He felt tears slipping down his face.
What was happening?
His feet shook worse than when Thomas had chosen Ja-Deceit over him.
Logan approached him as he gripped the backrest of the sofa in an effort to maintain his balance.
âWhat a pity everyone is looking for me right now. If weâre striving for accuracy, itâs even convenient. But you wouldnât care about that, right, Prince? You only care about yourself. You take and you take. And what for? Only to loseâ.
The blurry figure finally reached him. Logan gripped his sash and pulled him towards his face forcefully. The orange glow of his eyes made Roman tear up even more. He felt an overflow of information rush through his head like a wave of nausea taking over. It was as if, for a second, all of his offences and mistakes were laid in front of him to see.
Just like that, it was gone.
He couldnât process all of the things he now felt like he knew, the same way someone canât remember a dream after waking up.
The entire room began to shake and produce a terrifying cracking noise.
âLook at you, vague, unobservant and self-hating. How come you always get the upper hand? No. Wrong verbal tense. You got the upper handâ.
âI donât⊠Logan⊠I donât understandâ.
âOh, allow me to illustrateâ he began to say, sounding almost pleased.
âLogan, pleaseâŠâ
âIs that what youâd like me to say? Provide the pertinent explanation, now that you want it, let me be walked over and treated like a dusty encyclopedia. How would you express it? I guess the appropriate metaphor would be as it follows: Iâm done being a book used as a paperweight and checked whenever you happen to rememberâ.
âLogan, Iâm sorry, but we need you to--â
A monotone laugh cut him.
âYouâre incorrect, as per usual. Address me as Anger from now onâ.
âBut youâre logic! Stop being dramatic, Lo, we need you!â
âFalsehood! What Thomas needs now is assertive action to fix our failures. And if I need to take this form to overcome your lot being a constant source of inconvenience and frustration to ensure Thomas achieves his goals, then so be itâ.
âCome onâ, Roman said weakly and horrified, âyou know thatâs not true!â
âQUIET! Itâs not your turn anymore! You know nothing!â
He pushed Roman backwards, making him sink out. Then he turned towards Remus, who regarded him with a wicked smile.
Anger approached him, still frowning.
With his head dripping with blood, hands shaking in anticipation, Remusâ flinch at him couldnât seem more right.
âThere has always been merit to your words, Remus, it was very hypocritical of me not to listen. Itâs true--â
âWell, finally!â
Anger rushed forward, pushing Remus against the wall and raising him from his collar. It only made that cruel smile widen.
âLet me finishâ.
âOnly if I get to after thisâ, Remus joked.
âAgreedâ.
âWait, really?â
Anger got even closer, glancing slightly upwards to meet the stare.
âYou were right, I canât do this by myselfâ.
Hearing that, Remus almost couldnât breathe. Or was it the pressure and the shaking of the room?
Well, mark him horny and terrified. Anger would be one hell of a terrifying eye candy to witness.
âYou wonât have toâ Remus whispered.
Fucking finally, Anger smashed his lips and teeth against him.
Remus felt like he might have fallen right then and there.
Hi, I'm back from finals, but my brain is kind of dead right now, so enjoy this silly two-shot in the meantime.

Summary: Roman needs to get on with the program, realise his crush on Virgil and ask him out, because it's getting ridiculous.
At least Janus thinks so. Everybody does.
A wild crush has appeared, except it was there all along, Roman is just dumb <3
âItâd be a pity if you got over yourself and told Virgil you loved him already. Not that I care about his happiness or anythingâ.
Roman turned to face the back of the room, where Janus was sitting with a lap full of Patton, who just shrugged in agreement with a quizzical smile.
The treacherous acceptance Patton showed after Janusâ out-of-the-blue comment almost made Roman gasp.
âI just said I want to hang out with him this weekâ.
âAnd marry him the month after that, I supposeâ Janus retorted.
âOkay, first of all, nah-uh, and second of all, Iâd have expected this outright attack for you, but, Patton, are you going to stand watching him bullying me?!â
Just when he was about to reply, Janus intervened again, pretending to be distracted playing with Pattonâs curls.
âNot quite, let me rephrase that for you: bullying you into getting ahead in lifeâ.
âHello?â Roman gestured at himself, only to feel even more increpated by Janusâ glancing at him up and down. âIâm dashing at all times, itâs you who should be putting in the effortâ.
As per usual, Janus smirked, unimpressed. He ran a finger, scratching lightly, up Pattonâs neck. Underneath the cardigan, a pair of shoulders rolled in a contained shudder.
âI already have. You, though, have achieved nothing. Also, why am I detectingâ Janus said, raising a hand to cup behind his ear, âa hint of defensiveness? Honestly⊠well⊠as honestly as the budget allows, I am saying this for your sake. Take notes or something, Romanâ.
Romanâs weight shifted from one leg to the other, he crossed his arms and gasped, for real this time.
âExcuse me?â
âExcused. Iâll dictate it for you: number one, dot, Janus has made me realise my lack of ambition, comma, I will ask Virgil outâ. Janus changed the tone for a second, considering. âHmmm⊠letâs say, at once, sounds very you, doesnât it? Blah, blah, no ambition, Iâm very dim, I will ask Virgil out at once, full stop. New paragraph: number two, dot, from now on, comma, I shall listen to Janusâ advice, comma, because heâs so right all the time, full stopâ.
Once Roman came out of his astonishment, he closed his gaping mouth and pursed his lips like a child.
âOkay, thatâs it, you did this. Iâm calling the nerdâ.
Janus had no time to complain, as Logan was summoned immediately thereafter.
âLo, are you okay?!â Patton stirred in place after seeing Loganâs looks.
There, in all bizarre glory, stood Logan, draped in a lab coat with some unidentified stains, knee-length black rubber boots, safety glasses with what dangerously looked like a speckle of blood and a pair of gloves holding a scalpel.
âDonât worry Patton, heâs just been playing with Remusâ Janus offered.
Logan examined the room quickly, then cleared up his throat and blinked himself into his usual attire.
âI was in the middle of somethingâ.
âClearlyâ Roman muttered sarcastically.
âWhat do you need?â Logan made a point to ignore Romanâs comment.
Janus smiled calmly.
âRoman just called you so you can prove him wrongâ.
Before the prince could retort, Logan nodded with a vague hint of amusement.
âWell, I can certainly do thatâ.
âYou wonât need to, because itâs him whoâs sayingâ Roman paused and endeavoured to make his best impression of Logan, âfalsehoodsâ.
Logan frowned and crossed his arms.
âThat is to be expected, so what is the context?â
âHe says I need to ask Virgil out because heâs always rightâ.
Roman went on saying something along the lines of âlike, I like Virgil, but not like that. And heâs just implying Iâm in love with him, and I would know because, hi, Roman, romance? And Patton isnât even defending me!â. All of that, Logan didnât listen to, deciding to speak plainly.
âThatâs incorrect, Janus gets things wrong often, it is, in fact, a statistical improbability to be right all the time. But, to be fair, out of all of you, he holds a higher averageâ.
âExactly, thatâs what I saidâ Roman shook his hand forward as if to underline how justified he felt. A moment later he went quiet. âWaitâŠâ
âNo need. Iâll finish dispatching this soon. So, no, Janus is not always right, but you would do well to heed to his advice on this occasion, seeing how it would help resolve your feelings for Virgilâ.
âWhat?â
âThank you, Loganâ Janus said.
Logan nodded, satisfied with a good job.
âNo need, happy to helpâ.
âWait, wait, wait!â Roman exclaimed. âI have no feelings for VirgilâŠâ he reconsidered, ânot like that!â
In a quick save, Logan hid his laugh with a frown and an inhale.
âExcellent example of being wrong, youâll be a great help to Loganâs statisticsâ Janus grinned.
Everybody was looking at him.
Normally, heâd like that, because it was the natural order of things. At the present time, though, he felt paralysed by a sudden onslaught of contradicting feelings and thoughts. Unfortunately, all of these things running through his mind popped in and out too fast for him to process them as more than a jumble of nonsense.
That is to say, he drew a complete blank, cursing his ADHD.
âBut-but⊠Iâm not inâ he started slowly, trying to organise his ideas.
Then, went down with the first thing to come out of his mouth because working under pressure is not his thing.
âLike, I spend a ton of time with him, but what do you know? And, honestly, youâre just jealous Virge pays more attention to me because heâs almost as great as me. By the way, Janus steals your crofters when you donât look, someone has to say it, because weâre outing peopleâs secrets, except not mineâs âcause Iâm not in love withâŠâ
Patton stood up, knowing heâd have to help everyone brace themselves.
All at the same time, the following was spoken or shouted:
âSnitch!â
âHe did what?!â
âOh my... Iâm in love with Virgilâ

Chapter Masterlist
Summary: The moment we've all been waiting for, Virgil more than anybody, Roman admits he isn't perfect.
Well, no, it's actually them kissing.
I will not apologize for all of the flirting that happens in this chapter.
CW: Insecurities, very mild angst.
Getting together, but make it messy and silly
Roman laughed awkwardly.
âWhat do you mean you already know?â
After a pause where the other just blinked and stared at him, Virgil pulled out a chair and sat straddling it. He leant his elbow on the backrest, committing to a facepalm of sorts and a sigh.
âPrincey, Iâve known for ages now. I mean, youâve been super obvious for, what? A year maybe?â
âBut--â
âItâs fineâ he cut him. âI get it, so you donât need to explain yourself. At least Iâm glad you told me, even if itâs nowâ.
Roman frowned and stared at the floor.
âOhâ.
The chair creaked as Virgil leant his chest further against the backrest, following some kind of sunflower logic that required him to get closer to Roman in the least efficient way possible.
âHey, why are you sulking like that? Isnât this, like, better for you?â
âWell, that depends, if youâre rejecting me right now, then, no. Iâve only known that Iâm in love with you for a few weeks, but, if what you say is true, I guess Iâve been feeling this way for even longerâ, Roman paused, rethinking his words. He quickly glanced up at Virgil, gesturing with his open palms. âI mean, I will honour your choice, I donât want to make you feel like Iâm pressuring you into anythingâ.
Now it was Virgilâs turn to frown.
âBut⊠arenât you... I thought you just felt ashamed of meâŠâ
Roman observed Virgilâs tense body language, getting the sense the other was feeling quite self-conscious, if anything because he recognised it from seeing it quite often in the mirror.
âWhat? Why would I ever--â
âOh, well I donât know Princey!â he exclaimed, sounding more upset than he intended. âWe didnât exactly start with the right foot, and then you were so unwilling to be nice to me, but then we became friends, and youâve been getting closer and closer. You look at me with that stupid Hans from Frozen expression all of the goddamned time, but you never make a move, despite being all about romancing people. So, what else could I think? If you werenât going for it, there had to be a reasonâ.
âAnd you thought I was ashamed of you of all things?â
âWell, yeahâ.
âBut I still hanged out with you anywayâ.
âPrincey, in my defence I have to say youâre pretty stupid, so it makes sense for you to do something like that instead of just ghosting meâ.
Roman smirked.
âI canât exactly ghost you if youâre haunting meâ.
The pair of chapped lips pursed into a line. Virgilâs eyes looked at the top of the armrest with a worrying amount of interest for a plain piece of plastic.
âVirge, are you blushing?â
âWouldnât you like that, weather boyâ.
âWell⊠yes I would like that very much, because if you areâ, Roman walked up to him and held one of his hands in his, âmaybe you like me tooâ he finished, hopeful.
âJesus Christ, Roman, how are your hands so soft?â Virgil murmured.
Roman leant even closer to Virgil, bending almost to his eye level. He could feel his breath tickling against his neck. His body quivered at the sensation. When the warm air began to come in faltering intervals, Roman felt worried.
Was Virgil crying?
His hand moved towards the otherâs face on autopilot. Before he could cup his cheek, though, Virgil looked up at him.
The smile he received had something so attractive to it, an air in between smugness and tenderness.
âAre your lips just as soft?â Virgil whispered and got closer.
Roman felt like he was made of jelly. His silly feelings had decided to leave Virgil in charge of all of his body strength, not that the Prince complained. How could he under that gaze?
Virgil finally surged forward.
Romanâs heart skipped a beat.
And⊠he yelped as Virgil bit on his collarbone like a wild animal.
âOw!â he jumped backwards.
Virgil stood up from his chair holding onto his sides. His torso bent forward erratically, heaving.
When Roman finally saw his expression, his heart felt even weaker.
He bit his lower lip hard, the corners of his mouth were stretched forming a tiny dimple on the right cheek. His eyes arched and crinkled, giddy. Underneath, his eyebags shimmered with a bright shade of purple.
At that very moment, Roman couldnât help but think Virgil was the most beautiful thing heâd ever seen, and he was on that list.
âYou are unbelievableâ Roman complained not sounding bothered at all.
âAnd you are ridiculousâ.
âYou make me ridiculousâ, he said without thinking.
Virgilâs laughter slowly died down, settling into something soft.
âI do?â he asked.
Okay. Roman could do this.
Ignoring how shaky he felt, he once again approached him. A smile took over his entire expression all on its own. Roman nodded.
âYouâre making the Hans face again, just so you knowâ, Virgil said while biting some dry skin on the left side of his lower lip.
The princeâs eyes went straight to Virgilâs mouth. If this went on his brain would melt before heâd managed to say anything.
âI am not ashamed of you, Virgil, I--â
âIâm sorry⊠I just thought that, since you werenât addressing it, you might not like feeling like that about me. IâmâŠâ he gripped the back of his neck, recoiling from Romanâs gaze. âWeâre just so different. It kind of made sense, thinking you wouldnât want to be with someone who dresses like me and is just soâŠâ
âCome on, Taylor Swift, youâve always belonged, well⊠once we were friends. I was just very stubborn, but you were tooâ.
âPrincey, are you admitting youâre not perfect?â
âHey! Iâm trying to make you feel better and youâre attacking me!â
âWell, since youâre putting me at your level⊠just how badly do you think of me?â Virgil teased.
âI am actually wonderful, so, unlike you, Iâm not trying to get sassy, because if Iâm perfect then so are you!â the words came out of his mouth with no forethought.
âOhâ.
âI meanâŠâ
âAre you blushing, Princey?â
âWhat if I am? Red is my colour after allâ.
Virgil grinned.
âNot gonna argue with thatâ.
âYou must be in a good mood⊠is it because of me?â
âIâŠâ Virgil paused. He took one steady breath and rushed to get a hold of Romanâs hands. âAre you sure you want this? We⊠I am not riding off into the sunset material, and I know you care about that, and⊠I care about you too⊠what I mean to say is I like you, but I donât want it to cost you the fairytale youâve always wished forâ.
Roman took a deep breath. This was going to be something.
âBut Virge, I canât have that without you. Anything we do together already feels like thatâ.
Virgil blinked a few times, trying to stop himself from tearing up completely.
âPff⊠youâre such a sapâ.
âYou like itâ, Roman said, raising his tone a bit at the end to make it ambiguous whether it was a question or not.
âYeah⊠donât let anyone else know, thoughtâ.
A rush of adrenaline took over him. Roman swept Virgil into his arms and pulled him into a dip, leaning about an inch away from his face.
They stared at each other awkwardly, almost going cross-eyed from the proximity. Despite that, it felt kind of magical.
âMay I kiss you?â Roman asked.
âYou betterâ Virgil smiled, his eyes still watery.
Both ended up laughing at that. Roman shook nervously whilst cackling. Suddenly, his grip went loose and Virgil fell ass first on the floor, ending splayed face-up. His mouth opened in an âoâ shape.
âYou dropped me!â
âOh my gosh, Iâm so sorry--â Roman began to apologize.
Virgil got onto his belly in the blink of an eye and crawled. He grabbed Romanâs leg and pulled hard. Romanâs pretty face met the floor in less than a second.
âYou childish prick!â Roman said as he got on top of Virgil.
âTakes one to know oneâ Virgil replied, pushing him to the side.
They rolled around the floor of the room like idiots until they hit Virgilâs chair. Roman felt the wheels sticking into his ribs, as he laid below Virgil, who smirked victoriously.
Finally, Virgil grabbed his hair forcefully and met him halfway in a less than perfect kiss.

Hello guys, I'm still functionally dead due to work, but I figured I'd drop by and give you guys some intrulogical sustenance.
I've got no idea how to title this, so suggestions are welcome.
I'll post chapter two around Wednesday, and that'll be it (this is a two-shot). Tell me what you think in the comments. I'll include a link to AO3 once it's finished so I can upload the full thing.
Word count: 1663
TW: swearing, innuendo, mentions of death in space, fighting, arguing, mild violence.
The space AU no one asked for: give me title suggestions you cowards /j
It was a long walk to the botanic compartment.
Remus and Logan crossed, side by side, the long corridors of the ship, occasionally taking a glance out of the concave windows to the space beyond the safe confinements of the ship. The sight of the solar winds, as much danger as they could mean, if one were to be outside, were a beautiful and welcome respite from awkwardly staring at either the floors, ceilings or the path ahead⊠anything but at each other.
Eventually, they reached their destination. Logan waved in front of the door and the seal released itself, recognising the biometric credentials of one of the crewmembers.
âWelcome, Lo-lo-gan Winnâ the AIâs voice glitched.
Remus laughed at Loganâs irritated expression. The other stared at him carefully, soon averting his gaze.
The corridor that connected the botanic compartment to the main ship wasnât very long. Its clear walls allowed a perfect view of the space beyond. The sound of their boots, clanking against the metal net of the flooring stopped once they reached the door to the compartment. Remus leant by the emergency life-support equipment box, amusing himself with Loganâs unsuccessful attempts at getting the double-doored entrance to open.
âIncorrect biometric credentials, try-try-try-try--â the voice kept on glitching.
Loganâs shoulders tensed up. By force of experience, Remus guessed that repressing the impulse to punch the alloy surface. Huh. He shifted uncomfortably at the realisation that he was still able to read Loganâs body language, even without seeing his face.
After twenty-some more futile tries, Logan swallowed his pride and, barely, turned towards Remus.
âCould you sort out the seal release protocolâs error?â Logan asked, still not looking at him.
âYeah, sure I couldâ.
Remus stayed still by the box, letting the silence go on.
âThen would you?â Logan said very politely, meaning he probably wanted to kick Remusâ nose off his face.
âThat dependsâ.
âOn what?â he snapped and, finally, finally, looked at him.
Remus smiled. The fire in Loganâs eyes hadnât changed.
âFor starters, you shouldâ, Remus got inches away from Loganâs face, relishing the way Logan couldnât suppress a flinch. He pursed his lips and blew some air, making the other scrunch up his nose, âmoveâ.
âOh. Of courseâ he muttered.
Logan got out of Remusâ space in a rush, surely relieved from the unwelcome closeness. Remus squatted in front of the door panel and set to work.
It was impossible not to be aware of Logan standing tall right behind him. His presence felt like a lung infection, breathtaking and painful as fuck.
âSo surprised you still know how to talk to people after spending so much time from archive to archive, or maybe itâs just me. I do bite, but just if people ask nicely. Guess you forgot after, what? Oh, eight yearsâ.
âKeep at the task at handâ Loganâs voice came from behind.
âYeah, you know how I get distracted⊠sorry, knew!â he laughed.
Nobody would think that a sigh could be loud enough to carry through an entire room, but they probably hadnât met Logan. His carried across the botanic compartment as the two sliding doors retracted at the same time.
Remus stood up and crossed the threshold. Logan followed suit.
âCheck the mainframe of the AI assistant, I will do an initial scan of the compartmentâ Logan ordered as he walked away.
âSo commandingâ, Remus said, almost moaning it just to annoy Logan, who started to walk faster.
Remus began to fiddle with the interface of the AIâs user display, not finding anything strange. Yes, Logan had said mainframe, but the access to that was outside of the ship, and, as much into pain as Remus was, he didnât feel like going for a space-walk amidst a solar storm. Also, he probably thought this was the mainframe, which was a funny mistake for such a know-it-all like him.
After a bit, Logan came back.
âI have not found something that could have caused the diagnostic error we received at the main deckâ.
âPissed that your talents are being wasted?â Remus slipped into the old habit of friendly teasing like second nature.
Logan raised an eyebrow.
Right. Remus was supposed to hate this guy.
It just so happened that Logan was gorgeous, he had missed him a lot and Remus actually wanted any excuse to just spend more time with him, if only to prove himself they were strangers.
Well, fuck it.
Remus walked up to him and nudged him with his elbow.
âHey, since thereâs nothing to do, feel like staying here? Iâll let you pester me about plants if youâre goodâ.
Come on, come onâŠ
âI think we should keep lookingâ Logan turned around, once again putting distance between them.
âOkay, what the fuck?!â
âExcuse me?!â he, once again, faced Remus.
âYou leave for eight motherfucking years and you treat me like Iâm anybody else? Youâre not even going to fucking apologize?â
Logan had the nerve to stare at him in disbelief.
âI was assigned to this voyage, I didnât come here to see youâ.
âFuck you!â Remus shoved him against the wall.
The entire ship shook with a particularly strong gush of solar wind. Suddenly, the lights turned red.
âLockdown mode has been engaged due to-to-to-to-to--â
Both ignored the AI.
âTwo days before my graduation, you fucking left without a word! Suddenly I know, from my stupid-assface of a brother, that youâve joined the explorer division of the fucking Intergalactic Order and that youâve left for deep space. No text, no nothing!â
Logan pursed his lips, disgusted by the speckles of spit Remus had left on his face while shouting.
âRemus,â he stared down at their pressed bodies, âdisengage right now or I promise you--â
âDisengagement emergency protocol activated. The compartment will be ejecte-e-e-e-ed and sent to the nearest aid facility. Confirm-confirm-confirm-confirm--â
âCancel!â both Logan and Remus shouted.
âConfirm-confirm-confirm--â
âRemus, for fuckâs sake, let me move so I can fix this!â
âWhat are you going to do if I donât?â
âDo you really want to explain why we ejected the entire botanic compartment instead of reporting--â
âThank you for confirming. Ejection will commence in-in-in-in--â
Logan punched Remus in the face and rushed to the AI interface. Remus shouldnât have found it as hot as he did.
The face of his old friend opened up in an expression of distress.
âRemus, get outside of the compartment and see if you can cancel the ejection from the panel in the corridor!â
He stood frozen, holding the side of his face and staring at Logan like he was a supermassive black hole about to swallow his d-
âRemus! Now!â
âSure thing, butthole!â
He ran to the corridor and began to disassemble the panel by the double sliding door. Suddenly, the doors closed.
That fucking bitch.
âLogan, are you fucking serious?!â he shouted through the intercom on the wall.
âI always am, thank you for askingâ he humoured him.
âLet me back inâ.
âI wouldnât even if I could. We need the tech expert to remain on the ship during this solar storm, and, I will be far better at explaining why our botanic compartment initiated the emergency--â
âThree, two--â the sound of the AI carried through the intercom.
âLogan, Iâm not letting you get away with leaving--â
Right then, the botanic compartment began to drift away from the corridor, jostled by the intense solar winds. Between the swirls of red and gold, Remus could make out the green sparkling light of a chunk of components torn out from the right side of the compartment.
So that was what was causing the glitches, some trash must have collided against the mainframe. Well, bummer, since that was next to the right propulsor and those were a pain to replaceâŠ
Shit.
Remus opened the life-support equipment box, retrieving an oxygen face-mask and a full-body energy shield. Without losing time, he put them on, forced the now single sliding door open and let the rush of air impulse him towards the ejected compartment.
----
Logan sat by one of the windows of the botanic compartment when he saw it: Remusâ figure falling towards him.
Of course, so long around normal people had made him forget that it would be just like Remus to do something like jumping into space to chase after some misfunctioning botanic compartment.
He wasnât smiling. Suggesting so would be ridiculous.
Despite himself, he ran to the intercom, anticipating what Remus would do, as easy as breathing, as it always used to be.
âLogan, you fucking asshole, get an oxygen mask and an energy shield, the right propulsor got ripped out by space junk!â
âRight awayâ he replied.
âAlso, get a hand propulsor so we can get to the ship, I saw one next to the examination table!â
Logan rushed to the examination table and picked up the propulsor Remus had asked for. Then, he got the life-support equipment on, ready to leave the compartment.
Then, by the window, he looked at Remus, holding for life to the outer shell of the compartment, trying not to be swayed by the solar wind. Upon closer look, Logan noticed his shield was flickering.
-----
Remus climbed to the entrance of the compartment so he could get Logan and leave before the entire thing went into lightspeed and exploded or something.
Finally, Logan opened the door.
âCome on!â Remus screamed, then realised Logan couldnât hear him because they are in space.
All of a sudden, Logan grabbed his arm and pulled him inside the botanic compartment, closing the door behind him.
Remus fell on the floor and stared at the other in disbelief.
âEntering lightspeed, the vessel will arrive at the aid facility shortlyâ, said the AIâs voice.
While the sound of the propulsors began to deafen the space, Remus crawled to Loganâs side, put both hands around his left ankle and made him fall next to him.
âCover your head!â
The lightspeed kicked in, bashing both of them against a wall.
Calm before the storm: cronic of an angsty one-shot
I'm bored, so here's a sneak peek at the awful one-shot I asked you guys if you'd like me to torture you with.
I think I might make it kind of a sequel to THIS
Tell me in a comment if you feel it's about to go down.
Also, quick acknowledgement to @wisecolorthing for their ideas. I will try to incorporate some of them in the full one-shot.
PSA: I will be taking suggestions for the title of this monstrosity I'm writing (will have sort of a happy ending though, I'm not that sadistic)
PSA 2: Comment if you want to be tagged
CW: sexual innuendo, swearing (if there's anything else do tell).
Pairing: Intrulogical
Logan rolled on his bed with Remus, laughing as they kissed.
His week had been amazing.
He had begun using his new influence to fuel Thomas with energy to do things. Not that he had done it by physically being there, he could inspire certain thoughts or feelings without presenting in front of him.
Who would have thought that anger would make him exercise, then in turn hungry, do the dishes to get a plate and cuttlery, and all the activity get him to go to bed early?
In turn, he could use the feeling of success from the dishes as a push to take care of the rest of the appartment. Maybe Logan could get him pissed off about having nothing nice to wear to a date with Nico so heâd do the laundry.
If just one month of being a so-called dark side could get him this far, who knows what he could achieve in a year. Maybe Thomas could start listening to audiobooks while he edited!
Remus pulled on his hair.
âHey, youâre going to fuck with me, not with all those thoughts. Let me quiet that brain of yoursâ.
âIâm afraid if you want that youâll have to make meâ.
âYou teaseâ he smiled widely âthatâs exactly what I wanted to hearâ.
Before Remus could get up to anything, though, Logan stirred and pulled him off.
âWhat? Are you going for some edging action?â Remus tried to cover up his confussion.
Logan shook his head.
âI am being summoned by Thomasâ he answered, sounding surprised.
Instantly, Remus sat up on the bed and crawled to Loganâs side. His hands went to the otherâs shoulders to massage them in a very boxing match kind of fashion.
âOh, oh, oh! Seems like Thomathy is finally paying attention to his most worthwhile part. Well, Anger, enjoy the debut!â
Logan placed his right hand atop Remusâ and caressed it lightly without making visual contact with him.
âThank you, Remusâ.
Anger frowned for a second, then he stood up and took a deep breath.
âI guess Iâll go to my room, hit me up if you need helpâ.
Loganâs pretty orange eyes finally glanced at him.
âI will, thank you for offeringâ.
âNo problem, RATIONALE 9000, go tell themâ, Remus conjured an orange tinted torch and lit up his face from below, âI am putting myself to the fullest possible useâ.
Logan smiled warmly.
âThat certainly is what any conscious entity can ever hope to doâ.

Summary: Roman gets to work. Wooing Virgil will be a piece of cake!
Right?
CW: Swearing, anxiety, mild angst, maybe unsympathetic Janus (I don't really think so but it could somehow be interpreted as such because of Virgil and Roman talking about him, so I might as well give a warning). I don't think there's anything else, but, if you spot it, do tell.
Be yourself and let things develop naturally... that's just boring
Once he returned to the main living area, the noises of arguing and Loganâs screams could not be heard anymore. They were instead replaced by the clicking of spoons against teacups and mugs.
The moment the three noticed him they looked upwards at the same time. Patton, Logan and Janus were sitting at the table, drinking hot chocolate, coffee and tea respectively. The lights in the kitchen were on, illuminating them partially.
Logan nodded at him.
âHow did it go?â he asked.
Meanwhile, Patton smiled and Janus stared at him inquisitively.
Roman went fully downstairs, hurrying to move a chair back. With his hands still on the backrest, he began to speak.
----
âHaha⊠I actually wanted to ask youâŠâ
âDid something happen?â Virgil held his breath. âIs it about me?â
Roman could not stand the tension emanating from every pore of Virgilâs body. Thinking optimistically, he probably had no idea about his real motivations to come there, still, the thought of it eliciting such a reaction made Roman feel even more frozen in place.
âNo!â he answered all too fast.
His body language went even stiffer with worry, to the point where he raised a hand to his mouth and began to nibble on the sides of the tip of his thumb.
âThenâŠâ
âEverything is fine, Pierce the Nerves, I promiseâ.
âOkay⊠hmm whatâs up with the rose?â
âItâs⊠uhâŠâ Roman looked at it and began to felt ridiculous. âI just picked it up and itâs the same red as my sash!â he laughed as he placed it on the lapel of his suit.
âNo comments. What did you want to ask me?â
----
Janus looked at him with a mix of horror and disbelief as Roman finished his recollection of the events.
âSo I panicked and then I said that you had decided to help Patton bake something and now we need to make cookies this instant because Virgil will suspect something if we donât!â
For a moment there was silence. Then, Janus ran his hands over his face.
âRoman, please take a seat already or put the chair back in placeâ, said Logan.
âYeah, rightâ Roman sat down.
âBrilliant idea, Roman, thereâs no way Virgil wonât buy that Iâm making cookies and, of all things, invited him to try them. Why would you get me directly involved in it?â
Roman stood up, earning an exasperated eye roll from Logan.
âI drew a blank! I cannot come up with perfect stories on the spot while under pressure!â
âSo you thought putting me in it would just magically fix how terrible you are at talking to your crush?â
âHeâs not my--â Roman went deadly quiet, rethinking his life in a matter of microseconds. âLook, if I can trust you to do something is lie. So when Virgil comes down those stairs you need to help me fix this! You were the one who insisted I talk to him, so itâs your problem tooâ.
âCan I trust YOU not to mess up any of my--â
âHeyâ.
âAaaah!â Roman and Janus screamed in unison.
One sigh later, Virgil added:
âYou invited me to have cookiesâ.
âOh, yeah, well⊠about thatâŠâ Roman began saying. âPatton and Janus havenât started--â
âKiddo, we already got them ready while you went to call Virgilâ Patton interrupted him. âTheyâre cooling in the kitchenâ he pointed.
âIf you had paid attention you would have noticed the bowls in the sinkâ Logan added without bothering to look at him.
âRoman, close your mouth, youâll catch fliesâ Janus finished the series of comments directed at him.
----
Virgilâs chair moved back as he stood up.
âWell, uhâŠâ he said. âThanks for the cookies. HmmâŠâ
A frown appeared on Virgilâs face as he was leaving. His feet stopped all of a sudden and he turned around.
âJanus?â it sounded like saying the name itself pained him.
The side in question raised his head, looking openly confused. Or was it an act?
âYeah?â
âHmm⊠Roman told me you invited me. And thatâs⊠emâŠâ he bought time, wondering what to say. Whether to lie or not. âSuspicious. So, a word?â
Janus raised his eyebrows, not buying it, but he followed him nonetheless.
They left the room, both walking at a distance from each other. For a second, Roman thought he saw worry in Janusâ face.
âWhat the hell was that?â Roman asked no one in particular.
âHeâs trying to be niceâ Patton smiled. âIâm so proud of him!â his tone was ecstatic.
âI guess⊠hey, padre, how did you know Iâd ask you for the cookies?â
âPatton anticipated a few outcomes from your confession attempt and decided cookies would serve as a suitable response for eitherâ Logan replied matter-of-factly.
âYesâŠâ he grimaced apologetically. âI thought that if everything went well we could celebrate, and if it didnât⊠well, weâd be there for you, so the cookies might cheer you upâ.
----
A few days after the confession fiasco, Roman decided to try again and woo him a little before pouring his heart out.
He popped into the living room, only to find Virgil and Janus sitting six feet apart. One was listening to music and, presumably, checking out Tumblr, while the other read a thick book.
With the volume of the music, Virgil didnât notice him, Janus on the other handâŠ
His face stopped being obscured by the wing of his hat as he looked up at him.
Janus shook his wrist, making Loganâs watch appear on it. The other side wouldnât be happy about that, but if Janus had survived stealing his crofters, Roman figured he could get away with pretty much anything.
âWell, look at the time!â he said theatrically as he stared at the watch. âI need to take care of other things, pitty to miss out on your companyâ.
Virgil moved his headphone to the side, managing to listen to the last part of what Janus had said.
âAt least he doesnât make it awkwardâ.
âWhat?â Roman asked.
âYeah, youâre still angry with each other, right? I can ignore him, but having the two of us in the same room with him would be like asking for an argumentâ.
One short stare later, Virgil spoke again, a bit unsure.
âDo you want me to move so you can sit here too?â
âNoâ
âOh, okayâ
âI mean, I didnât come here to be on the couch, actually I came to see youâ.
âMiss me that much?â he teased.
And it was too good of a bait to just let go without reply.
âTerribly, Iâve been swooning and mopping because I didnât have someone blasting Paramore around me!â Roman answered draping a hand over his forehead.
âTruly tragicâ.
âI know. Anyhow, I was wonderingâŠâ
Virgil raised one of his hands to stop him right there.
âIf you want me to do something stupid and dangerous in the imagination with you, Iâll passâ.
âAfraid you wonât be able to keep up?â
âNo, itâs more like I donât want to have to drag your ass back here when you get hurtâ.
âHey, Iâll have you know Iâm the best swordsman in thereâ.
âSo is it like, empty then?â
Roman gasped.
âTss. It seems like it isâ.
âNo itâs not!â
âWell, if you keep inviting me, I guess it isnât, even if we are the only people in thereâ.
âVirgil, you have seen my servantsâ.
âHmm⊠yeahâ he looked to the ceiling playfully, then back at Roman,
âI donât seem to remember about itâ.
âOkay, well, I guess I wonât ask the royal artisans to frame your painting, since they donât existâ.
âWhat painting? Are you also hallucinating art?â
âNo. I was about to ask you if I could paint you!â
âWha-- really? You want to paint ME?â Virgil pointed at himself as if to make it somehow clearer.
âIf youâre willingâ.
----
The whole painting idea had gone well. Still, Roman wasnât able to get the right atmosphere to confess with Virgil constantly teasing them. To be honest, he ended up forgetting about it once they began to get caught up in the conversation.
He had tried other things, of course.
None had gone as planned.
Writing poems would just make Virgil uncomfortable or even correct him, because, apparently, listening to all of those lyrics from obscure indie bands had made him a better poet than him.
Then there was the whole incident with the ukelele.
Roman had been trying to play something to catch his attention, set the tone and just tell him, but the string snapped and hit him in the face. Now he had an ugly cut and some bruising on his cheek.
He felt stuck.
Worse than all of that, Janus kept lurking around Virgil. Pretending to be nice and reformed.
But never mind about everything else. He needed to keep trying.
Eventually, Roman would manage to get it right.
-----
Finally, he had a plan!
The last time Roman had gone to Virgilâs room to confess, he had panicked and let the effect of the room get to him. But, none of that could happen if he didnât speak.
This would be perfect because Virgil would love it. Roman had recorded a playlist of their favourite songs into a vinyl record, just to make it a bit fancier. Heâll gift it to him and Virgil would understand.
Maybe heâd even ask him to dance to it!
Roman crossed the darkness of the entrance almost running.
This could work!
His mood deflated instantly when he emerged into the room.
Virgil was sitting on his bed, knees to his chest, hiding all of his upper body inside his hoodie. He left the vinyl on Virgilâs desk and walked up to the bed, making sure to be a bit noisy so Virgil wouldnât be caught by surprise.
The other let a long breath out in some kind of acknowledgement.
Eventually, Roman sat next to him.
âWhatâs wrong?â
Virgil sighed and let his face come out of the cocoon of his hood.
âItâs not that somethingâs wrong per se. IâŠâ
Without thinking, Roman placed his hand on top of Virgilâs. The contact made him feel like nothing bad could happen to Virgil as long as he held onto him.
Roman got the sudden realisation that he would be willing to protect him from anything. Which wasnât too groundbreaking of a concept. Heâd try to save pretty much everyone if given the chance, but that was his need to be the hero, to be âgoodâ, whatever that eventually entailed. With Virgil, though⊠he just didnât know what heâd do without him.
âWhatever it is, Iâm here and Iâll make sure youâre okayâ Roman promised.
Virgil chuckled. It stung a little.
âYou canât just say those things so seriously when Iâm feeling bad, Princey, I never know how to react when youâre being soâŠâ
âAnnoying?â Roman tried to complete the sentence.
His head turned to the other side. He still didnât let go of Virgilâs hand, but he could afford to, at least, not let him see how self-conscious he felt right now.
âPrincey, look at meâ.
âIâm not sure I want to, Virgeâ.
âHey, Iâm the one whoâs feeling low. Donât try to steal the spotlight, itâs kind of an asshole moveâŠâ
Hearing that only made him feel worse, now adding guilt to the mix.
âEspecially sinceâ, Virgil continued, âI was about to say youâre niceâ.
âIâm sorry I reacted poorlyâ Roman finally managed to stare at him, âhere you are, feeling like crap and Iâm only thinking about myself. I can be very selfish sometimes. I apologiseâ.
Virgil frowned.
âOkay. Fuck offâ.
âDid I--â
âNo. Listen to me. Whatever youâre thinking Iâm thinking right now is wrong. I know what youâre doing because I do it all the time. Iâm not mad. And youâre not selfish. Not one bit. Youâre self-centred, very much so, but not selfishâ.
âVirge, Iâm pretty sure those are the same thingâ.
Virgil shook his head.
âYou can be annoying when you make everything about yourself and try to be the centre of attention. But you never ignore people when they need you, even if that doesnât benefit you. Youâre willing to give up things you want just to do what you think is right. Hell, Princey, you let go of your pride just to be friends with me. How could anyone think youâre selfish when youâre so stupidly wonderful?â
âI--â
âDonât get too smug about itâ Virgil cut him.
It got quiet for a second. Roman savoured the moment and squeezed Virgilâs hand. His smile began to return to him a little bit.
âThank you. It means a lot, you have no ideaâ Roman muttered.
Virgil visibly relaxed. He slumped a bit more, letting himself fall against Romanâs side. The dark hair tickled his collarbone, but Roman wouldnât ever dream of complaining about it.
âYeah I doâ Virgil whispered, so quietly Roman could have imagined it.
Having Virgilâs head on his shoulder made sense. Like it was meant to be there all along.
âWhat were you sulking about?â Roman asked.
âNot sulkingâ.
âSure thing, All the time lowâ.
He felt Virgil muffle a laugh against the shoulder pads of his suit.
The laugher died down soon after a long sigh.
âIâve been thinking about doing somethingâ.
Roman stayed quiet for once, leaving him room to breathe and let things out at his own pace.
âI⊠I am considering forgiving Janusâ, Virgil paused, twisting his neck to see Romanâs expression. âMaybe be friends again if it comes to itâ.
A sigh.
His thumb started to move in circles, caressing the back of Virgilâs hand. Roman swallowed.
âIsnât that a good thing?â he asked tentatively.
âYouâre not mad?â
âI donât know. Should I be? Itâs not like Iâve exactly forgotten about all of the bad blood between us. But⊠he makes Patton very happy and it seems like heâs trying to help, so I donât know what to feel about itâ.
âRoman, I know he hurt youâ.
âIs that what youâre worried about?â
âIn part. Thereâs more to it. But I canât just go and bury the hatchet with him if that would hurt you againâ.
A small part of Roman felt good knowing Virgil would keep on being angry with Janus if he wanted him to. In a way, it showed his willingness to stay by his side.
Thatâs why Roman couldnât ask him that.
Besides, Janus had been helping him too. It wouldnât be right for him either, as much as it stung to admit it.
âIf that makes you happy, I will be happy tooâ.
âYeah, but thatâs not what Iâm asking. I donât want to know if you would ignore your issues with Janus for my sakeâ.
âI really donât mind--â
âAnd I know that. But⊠fuck, Roman, you shouldnât be constantly forced to put everyone first just to make things better for everybody else except youâ.
That was⊠a lot to take in. Roman didnât know very well what to respond. Eventually, Virgil must have interpreted his silence as him doing something wrong.
âYouâre my friend. I⊠I care about you. I wonât do something youâre not okay with. Youâre more importantâ.
âNo need. Itâs okay. Getting over my stuff with Janus is my own
problem. I also care about you, a lot. If you want to be friends with him Iâll support you, it has nothing to do with my problems. You wonât hurt me. I promiseâ.
âThatâs good to hear. I mean, Iâm still struggling with the decision and I donât think Iâll be making up my mind anytime soon. But knowing that helps a lotâ.
âDo you want to talk about it more?â
âHmm. Itâs⊠itâs so confusing. I thought nothing he did could rub off how angry Iâve been at him, make me want to trust him again. Before⊠well, no need to get into the specifics, but it made me feel very betrayedâ his voice trembled a little. âThe problem is, he didnât exactly betray me, so I guess the doubts about whether or not things could go back to what they were, remainedâ.
Virgil swallowed, trying to compose himself.
âAnd it sucks because thereâs a part of me that canât tell if this is all part of a big scheme and heâs just trying so hard to be nice to me because he wants something, or because he actually cares. Iâm scared of letting my guard down and have him ruin everything Iâve tried to achieve. What if I go back to how I used to be?â
âI wonât let that happenâ.
âHow can you be sure? How can we be sure of anything when it comes to him?â
âWe canât. But I have no doubts that, no matter what happens, weâll figure it out. Even if it gets to the worst, you know me and I know you. Most importantly, I believe in you, Virge. Iâm not going to tell you, of all people, that thereâs nothing to be afraid of. But if youâre scared, know that you can trust me and you can trust who youâve become. Weâll be fineâ.
âRomanâŠâ
For a second, it seemed like Virgil was going to cry, or worse, do something like hug him AND cry.
âTo be fair, thoughâ, Roman went back to his usual self. Both would welcome the respite after⊠well, big conversation to unpack. âI honestly donât think Janus is planning anything. Heâs even trying to get on my good side just to make you happy. Iâm not the best side for him to manipulate anymore, not after everything, and he isnât that stupid. So Iâd say the bitch is being sincere. That being clear, it would still be a pleasure to punch him if you askedâ.
Virgil shifted a bit.
âOuch!â Roman shouted after Virgil elbowed him. âWhat did I do now?â
âYouâre dumbâ.
âSo are you, emo, whatâs your excuse?â
âIâm friends with you and I think it might be starting to affect meâ.
âWell, itâs about time. I knew even you werenât impervious to my dashing good looksâ.
Oh. Perhaps he had let on too much. Roman tensed up the slightest bit.
âYeah, yeah, whatever lets you sleep at night, Princeyâ.
