Doublekik is an Orange Grung, the second highest caste of the Grung system. While growing up, he was trained rigidly on the art of combat and martial arts. Upon maturing at the average age of 1 year old, he immediately began to lead war parties against the neighboring tribes of humanoids. Goblins were a common enemy and killed many of his soldiers. A massacre on his troop happened due to Doublekik refusing to admit he was making the wrong call. Haunted by his mistake and denial; now he can never find himself admitting to being mistaken or leaving any comrades behind.

Doublekik led a band of Red Grung, the scholarly magic users of the society, to go enslave adventurering humans. The rumors they heard were wrong as it was only one man wandering, but the cutter made quick work of the Reds. Kidnapping Doublekik, he sent him into the Outlands of Sigil and tried to open his eyes to the multiverse. Haunted by war and feeling vengeful over the death of his comrades, Doublekik wandered the planes while followed by the stranger, refusing to listen to his teachings.

It was while they were in the Three Glooms that the stranger saved Doublekik and finally earned his trust. Finally willing to listen, Doublekik learned that his home world was not the true center of the universe and especially not the multiverse. Doublekik took on a new first name to commemorate his new life, based on another name for the Three Glooms: Hades.

As his philosophical and multiverse lessons went on, the stranger showed him the planes favored by the Doomguard. The Doomguard was the faction the stranger belonged to, a group of people dedicated an ideal about everything decaying. Eventually, they went through the quasielemental planes and it was in the Plane of Vacuum that Doublekik learned the Multiverse’s Goal: Entropy.

Deciding to join the stranger on a multi-planar journey to learn more, Doublekik learned the ways of the Doomguard. Mostly, they were a bunch of barmy swordsmen committed to either destroying as much as they could, helping things decay without the interference of restoration magic, and/or, in the rarest circumstance, helping prevent the rapid decay of things that would throw off the natural decay. Doublekik would fall under the Watcher category, a Doomguard namer committed to protecting the universe decay naturally while playing his part in it.

They eventually went to Sigil, a city of portals and all levels of potential, where 12 factions basically ran the government. There’s a higher being known as the Lady of Pain who has the true final say, but thankfully doesn’t care to mingle with the masses enough to bother the politics. The Doomguard was initially dismissive of Doublekik for being a prime; as opposed to being a planar, a being born outside the Prime Material Plane.

Despite his shortcomings, the stranger helped Doublekik get initiated into the Doomguard and they continued to journey briefly through the planes. They mostly made use of the many doors in Sigil, but when they couldn’t find a door they navigated the caves of Mount Olympus, walked the roots of Yggdrasil, or found other means to cross-planar travel. Through this training, Doublekik abandoned his ways of evil, seeing his clan’s ways of slaving as a pointless act now, and merely focused on strengthening himself to protect the Multiverse’s Goal.

As they travelled through the Outlands, Doublekik finally thought to question his mostly forced initiation into the Doomguard. He learned of the stranger’s plan to interfere with the natural order to create Doomguards across the planes and accelerate the rate of entropy by teaching them to destroy those among them that would use restoration magic or magic at all. The stranger wanted to try and wipe out as much magic as he could. He had seen some world full of psionics that had a darkened sun and it had inspired him to this madness.

Doublekik’s lawful nature brought him to believe that the natural order of decay should remain natural, to accelerate it would just be a chaotic sinker’s undoing and disrupt the way it should be. So when they returned to Sigil, Doublekik slayed the stranger and reported his wrong doings to the Doomguard. Not all of them agreed with Doublekik’s actions, but enough agreed that he was dedicated to the Doomguard cause. This action had bought him favor with the other Watchers and Preventers of the Doomguard, but the Destroyers were still indifferent to him.

    Doublekik felt that somehow, the Factol, the leader of the Doomsguard, was actually pleased with his actions. During the rattling of bone boxes, he could swear he saw her smiling at all the chaos strewn into the faction.

This all took place over the course of a year. For the next 3 years, Doublekik worked in the armory of the Doomguard. Earning his meager jink and living in a squalor room in Sigil’s district known as the Hive. It was where most of the commoners and low lives lived.
