Summary Of Original Works
Now that my time at university is over, just thought it would be helpful to compile some of the projects I have worked on all into one post! Everything contained within is programmed by Curtis Jump personally. All of the art, and in several cases the music, was also by me too.
2018: “Jerboa Solider”
My main solo project from the last year of my operations at Futureworks university Manchester. It’s a 3D shmup created in Unreal Engine, with a stylised limited palette, and efficient use of fully textured low-polygon characters and modular terrain (Made in Maya/Photoshop). I’m very satisfied with it’s play-ability, which was the result of many hours put into getting others to test it for me!
Not exactly sure where to take it from here, but with a full health system and weapon options, it is extremely expandable.
2016: “Kunoichi Overdrive”
A Doom-clone with ancient eastern themes, that really represents my first steps into using Unreal Engine. It looks nice and plays okay (It had proper shooting mechanics, enemy AI and a full health system), but the integration of animations was a little poor. It did, however, still have entirely original music!
A 2D shmup created in Unity, primarily with C# coding. It’s a little primitive to look at, but does have multiple enemy and shot types, a health/lives system, a boss, menu/pause screens, several pieces of original music... If anything, I’m mostly still proud of the personality that comes across, though.
Overall, this was very much the original experiment into seeing how much I could accomplish as one person, and I think these early results were reasonable!
