Missing Campus
Dons, it is shocking to think that we are already in the month of November and it will shortly be Thanksgiving! Back to school feels like yesterday, but with all of the studying and exams, winter break will be here in no time. Reflecting on my time at #USFCA has made me think of all the things that I miss about the University when I am back at home. So I compiled a list of the five things I miss the most about the University of San Francisco during the Winter months when I am away.
The Trek up Lone Mountain
Even though every time I walk up the Lone Mountain steps I end up out of breath, the trek up Lomo is beautiful and the view up at the top is something that I will never forget, even far past graduation. Just being able to look down at main campus and see the city around me makes me so grateful for my time at USF and the experiences I have had in San Francisco
The Second Floor of Gleeson Library
The Second Floor of Gleeson Library sits pretty high on the list of things I miss the most when I am away. Â Not many students are aware, but there is a huge social scene on the second floor of the library. Every time I am in the library studying, the second floor is where I can always see a friendly face. It is very convenient, as I can study while also catching up with friends.
The Poke Bowl Station in the Cafeteria (UC 2nd)
The Poke Station provided by Bon Appetit, USF’s catering company, is new to campus. It’s something that can’t be overlooked when dining in the cafeteria! The poke is so fresh and the server is really generous and conversational. I always crave the bowl when I am at home. There is nothing like eating a delicious bowl of poke in the cafeteria with your college friends.
The Los Lobos Statue in Gleeson Plaza
The Los Lobos Statue is not only beautiful, but it is the perfect meeting place for my friends and I to meet up on campus. During our long days on campus, my friends and I unite in front of the statue before a trip to the library or for lunch during dead hour. If it is sunny out and Karl the Fog is nowhere to be found, especially in the month of October, we will find a spot in the grass to sit down and eat lunch. The view by the plaza is spectacular and we always end up running into people we know.
My College Friends
Last, but not least, when I am away during the winter, I miss all the friends I have made during my time here at USF. It is difficult being away for more than one month and not being able to see their faces everyday. There is something about friendships in college that is so special. Even though it is amazing to spend time with my close friends from high school, it’s not the same. However, since there is so much free time in the winter break, it’s a perfect time to plan a trip to meet each other halfway!
Have a great end of the semester, Dons!Â
