So, the first time I tried Donitas I thought they would taste like donuts.
I mean, they look like donuts, and their called DONITAS. Which to my non-spanish speaking brain equates to meaning donuts or referencing donuts. I expected it to have a sweet flavoring (like Doritos powder) or have a very thin ‘glaze’ on each piece. I was disappointed, but still enjoyed them when I finally ate some. They’re a little crunchy snack that is VERY addictive.
Then, I tried the spicy Donitas.
And I thought that these would maybe taste like donuts? Where they would have a maybe a sweet ‘glaze’ and spicy powder on it. Because sweet and spicy can be delicious! Combined with the crunchiness of the snack - I thought it would make sense. Was possibly a little more disappointed when I finally tried them. But I still enjoyed them! One of the handful or two of spicy snacks that I can enjoy that it’s actually spicy while not being too spicy. For me, at least.
Due to an incident with my cousin and some totally ‘not too spicy’ salsa, I’ve been wary of trying spicy foods ever since. Added to the fact that for some reason, some snacks that are supposed to be spicy aren’t spicy at all or way too spicy.
