A/N: So this is my first ever Why Don’t We fic, also my first ever fic I’ve actually written based on real people so please don’t hate.

Donah

Been up all night for a week or two, staring at the ceiling thinking about you.

Daniel tossed and turned in his bed, he couldn't sleep. Looking over at the blinking clock in the darkness he read the time 03:34. He sighed, trying to close his eyes and shake away the thoughts that had been consuming him for the longest of times. He sat up in the bed, before tossing the sheets from his body, grabbing one of his hoodies from the chair before he headed outside, towards one of the loungers out by the pool. He sat down and looked up at the night sky, the stars flickering against the dark canvas. He didn't know how long he had been out there in the dark but when he felt a hand resting on his knee he almost jumped. Looking at the person whose hand it belonged, Daniel felt his heart speed up

“Is everything alright, Dani?” Jonah asked the younger boy his eyes full of concern for his young friend. Daniel didn't know what to say or even how to respond to that question, did he dare tell him the truth?

“I couldn't sleep” he whispered and he watched as Jonah's eyebrows furrowed together

“Why? What's wrong?” he asked.

“I've guess I've just got a lot of stuff on my mind” he whispers. Jonah gets up off the lounger opposite him and sits beside the younger boy, pulling him in for a hug

“You want to talk about it? You know I'm always here for you” he says and Daniel looks up, into the blue eyes of the older boy, and he sighs

“Yeah I know” he tells him. Jonah lets out a small breath as he looks up at the night sky, waiting for Daniel to tell him what was bothering him and why he wasn't sleeping, but he knew that he needed to give the boy some time.

The two of them sat in silence, looking up at the sky, watching the stars when Daniel whispered

“My problem is you”, Jonah was shocked, his jaw-dropping when he heard those words leave his friends mouth

“What on earth do you mean?” he asks, he sighs internally hearing the depth of hurt in his voice but he knows Daniel needs to hear his hurt, cause what he just said had truly offended him. Daniel sighs, running his hands through his hair as he says

“You're my problem. You're the reason why I can't sleep, the thing that has been on my mind constantly for the last two weeks, more than that if I'm being completely honest with my feelings. I like you a lot Jonah, as more than a friend”. Daniel holds his breath as he waits for his friend to respond, to say something, anything to him, he expects him to be angry or to get up and walk away at hearing the bombshell that he had just offered him. What he wasn't expecting was for Jonah to reach out and cup his cheeks with both hands and pull him closer as he connects their lips in a sweet kiss. When the kiss is broken, Jonah pulls back and whispers

“I like you a lot, Daniel, as more than a friend”, after saying those words he reconnects his mouth with the younger boys and can't help but lose himself in the kiss. He had longed for the boy for months and it felt like a relief to finally have him.

Wide awake half asleep, can't tell what's real and what's a dream.

Jonah: *notices Daniel playing his keyboard* Hey man, you practicin'?

Daniel: Yeah, in fact I wrote you a little song...

Jonah: *grins and furrows his eyebrows intrigued*

Daniel: *plays and sings beautifully in F# major* Keep your damn paws off my leftovers.

Jack: *sharing Daniel's leftover pasta with Zach in the kitchen* Wait, is he talking to us?

Zach: Nah, that was towards Jonah I think.

Jack: *shrugs and continue eating* Amazing song, Dani.

Daniel: *smacks his forehead in annoyance*
