I sit in my cage. Metaphorical as it may be I can feel the metal bars restricting my life, my energy, my creativity. I can hear the lock as those who would shame me taunt my captivity and keep me hidden away. But my cage is not of metal bars or locks, it is of flesh, and bone, and blood. Everything that keeps me alive keeps me dead also. This does not matter, as long as my mortal body stays safe, hidden, caged, my mind can run free. When I lay broken after your twisted words of my worthlessness I can leave. He can take my hand and whisper 'Run'. He knows, he knows everything, of what hinders and harms me, what lead to his creation. He knows he is my escape, my freedom. He needs no thanks, but I give it to him still, as what would I do without him? I would wither, my mind would become blank, meaningless, filled with nothing but cold and logical reason. Nothing I care for. All I care for is he. While he tries to be serious as we run, I can see the glint in his eyes. He's enjoying this, the excitement, the danger. He knows if he enjoys it I will too, we always see eye to eye. It doesn't matter what the monsters say. 'You're useless,' 'You're pathetic,' 'You'll never amount to anything,'. I know they're wrong. Because he believes in me. Their words cannot harm me when I'm with him. No matter how close we get, he'll always save me. In this wasteland of a world there are others too. Others who wish to help, to dream, to get away from the monsters, the beasts that threaten our lives every day. They come in every shape or form, to help those of every shape or form. There are elderly men saved by little girls, and little girls saved by elderly men. Women saved by women, men by men. Teenagers, children, adults. Everyone is equal here. Whether you be black or white, whatever your sexuality, whatever your views. Who you choose to love is of no importance here, whatever you look like, however you think. We will always be here to save each other. It doesn't matter whether those monsters around you want to hurt you themselves, or lead you to do the same. We're all worth something. Death comes of it's own accord, you don't need to take it early, whether it be your own or that of someone else. Pain can be cured or prevented. Hate can be eradicated. Maybe not in the real world, but here. Here in our imaginations no one can hurt us. We can hold hands, whether real or imaginary, say a prayer to whatever God, or human you so desire, and face our enemies as one. And then, when our enemies are beaten they can join us too, we will heal them, then they can help save the rest of our enemies. The man pats my shoulder and I grin. We've defeated them once again, I reach out to one of our fallen enemies, and another fallen comrade, and speak to them as equals. 'Do not worry, you're safe now,'
