Heâs always been a mess and sheâs always accepted it, turning a blind eye to the chaos he brought to her life. She prayed she satiated his pain if only a little bit, but she doubted helping him heal was anywhere in her power.Â
She wouldnât call him a lost cause, but he was simply a puzzle her nimble fingers couldnât put together no matter how hard she struggled. His hold on the drugs were too strong. With each round of rehab came the hope heâd be better, that heâd be reformed into a new man. It never happened, and she had stopped expecting him to be healed.
Hoping for the better never got anyone anywhere, it was all a matter of putting the effort into any obstacle that made any difference. Jinho just needed her help. He needed everyoneâs help.
Sometimes her mind isnât whirling with thoughts of his inevitable end and instead sheâs able to focus on better things. Like his smile when theyâre together and the connection they have. He was the brother she never had, and she couldnât explain why that meant so much to her.Â
She never brings it up. And sometimes she regrets that. Sheâs never been good with sharing her emotions, especially when it came to more heartfelt ones. Maybe one day she wouldnât swallow down her thoughts and instead let them flow freely to the other.Â
The pitter patter of rain awakens her from her thoughts. She doesnât speak for a moment, choosing to focus on the way the drops burst when they hit the ground. She had always loved the rain, finding it beautiful even on the worst days.
âJihyo.â Sheâs startled by his voice, turning around to face him with a small smile tugging at her lips. He looks good, his eyes bright. âCome on.âÂ
Her brows draw together in confusion but she doesnât refuse, rising up to follow him outside. Sheâs happy she wore a thicker shirt today, stretching out her arm to catch some of the drops in her palm. While Jihyo doesnât know why he decided to invite her outside in the rain she isnât complaining as she invites the rain with open arms, watching the male with amusement twinkling in her eyes.
Itâs not often she sees him enjoying himself anymore, and with each waning day the likeliness of seeing a smile on his face grew more slim. While he may have looked like a complete idiot running around beneath the crying sky, it was certainly entertaining.Â
She only hesitates a moment longer before joining, throwing all caution to the wind as she ran after him. It was easily one of the most ridiculous things she had done in her life, but she didnât care.Â
   Not when he was happy.
