An amazing rescue! #trunkupwines @dswt ・・・ Meet Dololo, our newest addition to the foster program! On September 9, a calf was spotted floating in a dam, with just the tip of his trunk poking above the water’s edge — see photo 2. The 18-month-old was in extremely poor condition and had several health issues to contend with, from an eye infection (the result of being submerged in water) to a severe parasite infestation (which is the reason he was so weak and got stuck in the dam to begin with, we believe). Now, a month since his rescue, Dololo is on the mend and getting stronger every day. He’s taken to the milk bottle with great enthusiasm — see photo 3 — and really enjoys his excursions out into the forest with the other orphans. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Dololo will remain in our care until he’s ready to return to a life in the wild.
