i can't remember the exact episode (it was in the early seasons,) but there was this little throwaway interaction between Jadzia and Kira in ops, where Kira asked Jadzia if she wanted to go to lunch together later that day and Jadzia was like oh no sorry Kira I have a lunch date with some dude later i can't make it. and Kira was like oh okay :( have fun with your dude
and i sort of remember thinking "haha that kinda makes it sound like Kira was asking Jadzia out on a date and got turned down. wouldn't it be funny if they were in love?"
and that i think was the moment where i was like "woah. it actually WOULD be cool if they were in love"
and then the rest was history :)
