Name three stories you found difficult to write.
Oh, this is fun! At this point, writing fiction comes pretty easily to me, but there are specific stories I can point to that were tough for various reasons.
Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu Naboo wgah'nagl fhtagn, or, How Rey and Kylo Ren Saved the Galaxy: I started that in 2016 for the first RFFA collection, it was only the third story I’d written and my first Reylo. It was just overwhelming and I ended up pulling out of the collection. I couldn’t stop thinking about it, though, and so this summer I decided to try again, I got a great beta (@lovethemfiercely) and I finished it! It was mostly difficult because of the emotions attached to it (i.e., I dropped it, and picking up something after dropping it is tough).
The Unicorn: This was hard because I took my sweet babies from FRMAU and gave them a terrible experience and a terrible end. The story came pretty quickly but I had to keep apologizing to them as I wrote. I still feel kinda bad reading it, even though I love the story.
Under the Orange Moon: This one was hard because I couldn’t figure out the details. I knew the general plot, but I kept changing my mind about small but important things. It’s a werewolf-type story, so ... who is the werewolf? How much time actually passes in the story (days or months)? What happens to Chewie at the end? I had a lot of help from @lovethemfiercely and @jesssssah, and it came together and I’m happy with it, but boy it was really like pulling teeth for a while there.
Thanks so much for the ask @doing-talking!
