レプカっぽいアートワークからスラッシュ系かと思いきや、内容はやや趣が違う。現在はペンシルバニアを居所としているらしいアメリカのバンドの1stアルバム(このアートワークは先日Stormspellから出た再発盤)。TITAN FORCEを技巧派パワーメタルに寄せたような、プログレハードからの流れにあるUSPMなのだが、このバンドの主と思われるJim Dofkaさんが奏でるギターがとにかく美しい。ここまで印象的なフレーズばかり卓越したトーンで叩き出せるのは、かなりの手練れとお見受けする。なんでもUSPMマニアの間では、DOFKAといえば知られた名前のようで…知らなかった。USPMもやはり奥が深いですなぁ。曲自体はマイナー臭く地味でもギターだけでご飯何杯でもいけそうなので、USPM好きは必聴だと思う。それにしてもこういうのを無限に引っ張ってこられるStormspellってレーベルが、最近ますます分からなくなってきた。いよいよ創業から20年近いわけでしょ？リリース数も200は行ってるだろうし。どういうアンテナ張ってるんだろう。
