a forest trail choked with fog before sunrise. ( from here )

It had been a while since the Elvenking walked the lands before sunrise. Now that peace had found his lands once more, he saw no need to let past paranoia keep him busy. Those early morning walks were his own way of fighting anxiety as well as seeing with his own eyes how safe his borders were. Of course, Mirkwood had its fair share of horrid creatures but the important thing was making certain his borders were secure. He and his army could handle the small flare ups here and there, but an invasion? Well. He stayed prepared in hopes nothing would ever come of it.
Today's walk was more or less because he felt restless. In a few day's time he would be visiting an old friend who honestly deserved better than guarded disposition. Perhaps in time he would learn to let go of some of the old habits, but it was a tough sell for others when the old way had kept them safe for all these years. What was the old saying? If it isn't broke…
Hands moved to his hilts as he continued his walk, the thick fog easing in some places. Someone was either following him or walking the same trail. For their sake, he hoped it was leisurely. Hands gripped the handles of his blades as he paused, standing at his full height. He waited, the fog clearing as small footsteps appeared in the clearing. His expression would remain cold; stoic as a person's form appeared. He looked neither pleased nor displeased, but if one were to guess, he was likely highly annoyed by the intrusion.
He doesn't say a word; merely waits for her to explain herself. For the time being, he would not assume the worst.
