Docksta and Ullångersfjärden, Sweden (No. 2)
Ullångersfjärden is one of the deepest bays in Sweden, and is located in Västernorrland County. The largest depths on the map are marked to 104 m in a place in the middle of the bay in a line from Mjällomslandet to Docksta. The bay is over two miles long measured from the southern tip of Ulvön to Invik at Ullångersfjärden's innermost part at E4 in Ullånger. The steep mountain Valaberget opposite Mjällomslandet gives an indication of the forces that worked when the country was formed and the ice sheet melted away.
Ullångersfjärden is the heart of the High Coast. With daily boat trips with e.g. Coastal traffic and Rånö between Ullånger via Docksta and Mjällomslandet to Ulvön make the bay a major tourist attraction during the trip. Fishing has long been a major industry. Over time, this has completely ceased as the stock has decreased. Cod disappeared during the prey fishing carried out by West Coast trawlers for a week in the eighties.
Herring, whitefish, salmon and trout are currently the main stock.
