This participatory event will consider the following concurrent trends: the so-called “crisis of masculinity;” feminist and queer takedowns of “toxic masculinity;” “masc” and “masc4masc” as popular stated desires in gay hookup culture; and trans-masculinity, what we can learn from shifting hormones and identities... Our program will include: an experiential practice to bring awareness and sensation to sites in the body culturally segmented by toxic masculinity, designed by choreographer and somatics practitioner Sarah Ashkin; a panel discussion between artists Stefan Schwartzman and Cade, writer and teacher Clay Kerrigan, activist and spokesperson Adrienne Adams, and host Fiona Duncan; plus! videos by Alicia Novella Vasquez and Jasiri Anderson and Cade;and recommendations for prostate massagers from our local sponsor, Doc Johnson. I got a new packer (Doc Johnson brand) and it... smells so good?? It comes out the package smelling amazing and I've used it twice and it still smells amazing? It's not the baby powder either, I have no idea. It's just this super sweet scent. I hope it lasts forever.
