Ludger pats the spot next to him on the bed welcomingly, despite his expression still being muzzed by sleep. “If you’re having trouble sleeping you’re welcome to stay. I’ll be here in the morning.”

(Somewhere far, far away, the Prime makes their wish.)

It’s as Julius finishes up the bridge that he realizes that another voice has joined his for the hymn’s third verse. His first thought is that it’s Ludger, but he’s already sound asleep on the couch, curled up with Rollo. The voice is unfamiliar, and as Julius trails off the faint melody continues on its own.

There are footsteps outside, and Julius tenses because there aren’t many people who should know that song, and fewer yet that he would want to see at their door. The knocking that follows, though, is hesitant, though it increases in vigor after a few light raps. When the knocking grows more insistent, Julius cautiously makes his way over and opens the door.

The stranger standing outside it looks surprised and almost concerned for a moment, as if he really didn’t expect anyone to answer, before he relaxes and runs a hand self-consciously through silver hair. “Hey, uh… Sorry for dropping by unannounced but you know, this place is just, I sort of-” He cuts himself off there and chuckles a little, sheepishly, before looking off to the side with a rueful grin. “Ah, sorry, that came out all wrong.” He looks back up, his gaze meeting Julius’ dead-on with a new strength, clears his throat, and

the sheer familiarity of those haloed green-gold eyes is striking.

“H▒░, i▒s ▒ka▒. Y▒u’ll ░e okay, I p░omise.”

As Julius’ eyes widen, Ludger smiles again, warmly, and asks, “May I come in?”
