R.I.P. to one of the absolute wildest, who made so many great records, live shows, and insane stories. The DMZ reunion I saw in 2008 at Maxwells in Hoboken, NJ, remains one of the Top 10 shows I ever saw. I cannot fucking imagine what they must've been like when they were in their early 20s. Track down any DMZ or Lyres recs you can.

Monoman Jeff Connolly has died. “On Fire” by his band The Lyres could have been recorded in 1965. That’s a compliment, it’s up there with anything by the Standells, Music Machine, and dare I say , ? and the Mysterians.
