Death of Dmitry of Suzdal (July 5, 1383)
On July 5, 1383, Dmitry of Suzdal, a Russian prince of the Rurikid dynasty, died, marking the end of a turbulent career shaped by the fragmented politics of northeastern Rus’. As Prince of Suzdal and later Grand Prince of Vladimir, Dmitry was closely involved in the constant power struggles among the Russian principalities during the period of Mongol-Tatar dominance under the Golden Horde.
His reign was defined by shifting alliances, particularly with his brother Dmitry Donskoy of Moscow, as rival cities competed for supremacy and the coveted title of Grand Prince.
