Leadership and Spiritual Formation DMin Retreat, Spring 2012
This last week I had the pleasure of joining the Leadership and Spiritual Formation DMin students at Cannon Beach, Oregon, for the second week of their learning intensive. Monday I taught a research course to the dminlsf-M cohort that focused on naming their ministry 'problem' and articulating their research question. Tuesday and Wednesday, Len Sweet joined to teach his 'DMIN 534 Semiotic Leadership in Ministry Organizations' course.
As always, spending time with the students was a highlight. This time around, however, my biggest highlight was the joy of having my daughter Libby come along. I so enjoyed having her get a glimpse of my vocational life, meet the great people in the program, walk on the beach, and so forth. The students warmly welcomed her, which she clearly enjoyed. And, Libby had the opportunity to sit in on Len's lectures. I told her, 'Libby, listen to Len. He's going to tell you about your future...!' She loved it.
