I think Dean is absolutely into men. This was obvious to me as soon as the Benders episode ( with proto-Emma— surprised no one has ever used Missy Bender as “Dean’s little girl” lmao) of s1. Anyone who is queer on the dl knows exactly what it’s like to look for interested parties at a bar or club and this is exactly what Dean does in the scene before he loses Sam. It’s funny to me that because certain segments of the fandom are so anti Heller they become downright homophobic with their interpretations lmao. Dean was queer long before Castiel ever showed up or Jensen was probably aware of it. He flirts with men as much as women. He even uses the same expressions and body language. There’s a very tactile quality to this as well. I like Charlie a lot, know why she was created etc. but this was always my biggest issue with her. I never believed for one minute she was actually into women (with Rowena later on I definitely believed it lmaooooo). With Dean you always got the feeling he could go either way as long as his dad wasn’t around. I don’t include the fact that Dean was named after a notorious bisexual character because I 100% believe Kripke is one of those douchebags who reads Kerouac and makes it their personality for a semester and just thought the concept was “badass” and gave it exactly that much thought
Sam is interesting to me because all “queer allegory” fan theories aside I can totally see him as someone who hooked up with dudes at university to “try everything once” and to piss off his dad. But this aside he is definitely one of the most aggressively female focused characters on the show. He has no relationships with men and the ones he does have are always more involved with Dean (Castiel, Crowley, even Garth lmao) And the camera loooooves showing him banging women. There’s also the fact that when he was soulless (aka. at his most uninhibited and free) we saw him fucking numerous women including sex workers. And this was when the show runner was certified Samgirl/queer Sam icon Sera Gamble! I do like the idea of Sam and demon Brady hooking up at Stanford because I loved the manipulation of Azazel storyline and think this would have been fascinating. Actually it would have been fascinating to know ANYTHING about Sam’s life at Stanford other than he was in a committed relationship with Jess and was going to propose to her. People who say Sam started getting short shifted late on in the show need to rewatch the Kripke era. Sam and Rowena have great chemistry late in the show and in another ,better show we would have seen them sealing their deal about killing Crowley with them fucking their way through the Book of the Damned lmao
