📚 BOOK TOUR REVIEW 📚 𝗞𝗜𝗦𝗦 𝗛𝗘𝗥 𝗚𝗢𝗢𝗗𝗡𝗜𝗚𝗛𝗧 by D. K. Hood I'm sharing my thoughts on Kiss Her Goodnight, which I reviewed as part of the tour hosted by Bookouture. Now, while I already published my book blog on my site, on 6 June, I just can't find my original Instagram post. I have therefore decided to republish it here today. 𝗠𝗬 𝗥𝗘𝗩𝗜𝗘𝗪 As per usual, Bookouture only publishes the best authors and books. Kiss Her Goodnight is no exception to that rule. This is the fifteenth book in the 𝘿𝙚𝙩𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙨 𝙆𝙖𝙣𝙚 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝘼𝙡𝙩𝙤𝙣 𝙨𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙨, and events here take place a few months after those of the previous book 𝙋𝙧𝙖𝙮 𝙁𝙤𝙧 𝙈𝙚𝙧𝙘𝙮. This is the kind of novel that reads very well as a standalone, or even as an introduction to Jenna Alton and David Kane, but with that said, I believe that to truly appreciate the brilliant writing, context, and background of these characters, you should read the books in order. The chapters aren’t too long, so be prepared to fall into the ‘just one more chapter’ trap before bed. I found this to be as thrilling as it’s predecessor with the collection of great characters. Jenna and David are joined by Rio, Rowley, Wolfe, and Duke, who were three dimensional, likeable, and very credible. Without giving away any details, I was rooting for Jenna and David the whole way through. This is a great bunch. I won’t go into the story because it’s to good to ruin. I will say that I thought I had it all worked out a few times, only to be completely wrong each time. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the book which I read in one sitting after falling into that damned trap! I cannot recommend this highly enough, adding the caveat to go and read the series for better context and character development. I gave Kiss Her Goodnight, by D. K. Hood, five stars. Thank you for my spot on the tour and for the choir of the book in exchange for my honest review. 𝗠𝘆 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄 To publish the fourteenth book in any series is quite an achievement, so I already knew this would be a great read, and while it functions perfectly well as a standalone story, I felt I had missed out on a lot of context and information on the characters, locations, relationships, and events in the Kane and Alton story arc, by not having read the first thirteen books. That said, this was so good that I am now actively seeking out all the others. I found myself rather liking virtually everyone (with a few notable exceptions), and was rooting for Jenna and Dave all the way through. The supporting characters played their parts well, and only served to enhance my pleasure in reading this book. I enjoyed having absolutely no clue about the identity of the murderer for the majority of the book, and then getting it wrong when I thought I had put the pieces together. Overall, I found this to be a well executed, fast paced story which held my attention throughout.. I highly recommend this book, but would caveat that with the recommendation to read it as part of the Kane and Alton series for better context and backstory. I gave Pray For Mercy, by D. K. Hood, five stars, and look forward to reading more about Jenna and Dave in the near future.
