“I don’t—I–I’m unsure as to how I should respond to that,”

“If it wasn’t for my ever nagging minister, I wouldn’t even be here.” The king sighed as he sat back into his chair. He had only just arrived, but this place was killing of boredom already.  “So, tell me ”  he paused as he looked up at individual standing in front of him.   “does anything ever happen here?”

"You have my apologies, but I don't believe I will be joining you for a walk today," Makeda began, eyes focused on the world beyond the glass. She hadn't set foot outside of the castle since the night of the masquerade; nor had she allowed Kasia out of her sight, hence having the child lying in her crib not four meters away. "I think I see a rain cloud, coming in from the south," she pretended, though she was well aware that the sky above the castle was as blue as the morning glory's in the gardens, no hint of a cloud on the horizons, "And I would hate to be caught in a downpour. Perhaps we could walk through the castle, instead?"

Symon looked around the empty kitchen, his eyes fell upon the food laid out on the table. He’d helped made some of it earlier that morning for the masquerade ball, but after the confusion and mayhem most of the spare food laid untouched. He looked round the room once more before he picked up a chicken leg and began eating it.

Nancy held her breath while closing her eyes. She could hear footsteps on the other side of the door, all that she could do was hope and pray that he wouldn’t enter. She didn’t normally hide from her clients, especially not when they were a Lord but he’d had one too many to drink and started to get hands on, which didn’t exactly seem all that appropriate with the tragedy that had fallen upon the castle earlier that night.The situation wasn’t what the brunette would call a dangerous one but it was always better to be safe than sorry as she knew while the whole castle in chaos if something did happen there would be no one to help her. 

"Everything is rather beautiful, isn't it?" Makeda didn't even speak to who she was addressing directly. Her gaze instead flickered around the orange room, drinking in the sights like which she had only ever seen when she was back home, in the grandly decorated rooms of her fathers palace. “The colors are so rich-- the food, equally so. One would wonder where our hosts have been hiding these decorations until now, would they not?”
