Dharma Sound - Distorter, Sustainer
“Possibly a Big Muff, op amp version. Late 70’s. ... Very little is known about Dharma Sound, active in the UK during the 70's. This pedal is said to have a circuit close to the Colorsound Supa Sustain and the Roland Sustainer. I have both those pedals and they do sound similar. ... (from @effectsdatabase - "Probably made by Doug MacDonald (MD on the circuit boards?) and Alan Harding who also designed pedals for Colorsound in the 70's). At the core of the circuit is a vactrol/light sensitive resistor combined with an led - wrapped/isolated in yellow at the centre of the board. The resistance varies according to the brightness of the led, which determines the level of compression. ”

Oh my god, where has Distorter been my whole life? He's so creepy with the way he can get you to have a fatal accident without you realising it. But at the same time, I love him. I can't wait to see where else you take the Switch story.
Aaa thanks, dude! Distorter probably has one of my favorite power sets I’ve come up with, they’re so interesting and eerie. And I’m excited for the future of Switch too! Looking forward to writing some of the ideas :D
I've started thinking about something and it won't get out of my head, so might as well ask it: what would happen if distorter met glitchy Anti? Would your gray boy have any chance against him?
Hmmm, that’s a good question, and one I haven’t thought of!
Well, first off, I can’t really see Distorter actively going after normal Anti. He’d probably see him as having nothing much to offer, and not worth the trouble of killing. He’d only attack if Anti did first, which, let’s face it, he probably would. If not because normal Anti wanted a new puppet, then because he might see him as a threat.
But that’s where things get tricky. So, if Anti goes after Distorter and tries to use some supernatural means to puppetfy him, that’s going to fail, because Distorter is pretty much immune to mental magic. And then say Anti decides “okay, knife time,” that’s going to not go so well either, because Distorter can’t feel pain. He can’t really die, either, or at least he hasn’t found a way to yet. Yet at the same time, Distorter isn’t going to be able to do much to Anti, because all those things I mentioned? Immunity to mental magic, lack of pain, so far can’t die…yeah, Anti has all that too. The two of them have pretty similar power sets on paper, they just manifest in different ways.
If I had to place a bet on the outcome of a fight between them, I’d say Anti would probably come out on top. Simply because Anti’s powers are a lot more physical, while Distorter’s are mainly mental. But even so, it would be pretty close. There’s a good chance that if Distorter was prepared for the fight, or if it took place somewhere he had an advantage, he would win. They’re pretty well-matched.
