9. Least favorite trope to write.

I'm going to take this with the assumption of it being a trope that I still would/do write - IE not something I COMPLETELY avoid. With that framing, probably...meetcute or budding romance more generally. I juuuuust don't like writing about it that much, I vastly prefer writing either a pre-established relationship or like, exes/rivals/fwb/enemies to lovers or something where there already is some type of complicated history between the characters. Usually when I write a "falling in love" type fic it is DEEPLY couched in a much bigger narrative, and develops first slowly and then very very quickly as tensions rise....but at that point the part I'm enjoying the most is the unfolding narrative itself, the burgeoning romance is just a part of it.

Now if it's a trope I avoid on principle? Then self-insert & Y/N. I don't find much enjoyment writing from the perspective of a faceless character that's supposed to be "me" but also supposed to be "any reader at all"; it's way too difficult for me to make something like that work because my writing is so focused on the internal machinations of the characters involved and like.....I don't know who Y/N is. I can't write like that. I absolutely can't stand writing stories where the POV character is vague enough that anyone could step into their shoes, it's just not something I enjoy. As for self-insert, I just frankly don't want to insert myself into my stories LOL. That's what the characters are for! I don't need to be part of it!

16. Where do you take your motivation from?

UM. Wouldn't I like to know!!!! I....I guess sometimes if I'm really enamoured with an idea it's the idea in my mind that motivates me, but frankly I have no clue what it is that actually motivates me most of the time.

In a more general sense the "reason I write" is just that it's fun! Writing is my primary hobby, most of my free time is spent writing and has been for basically ever lol. I'm sure I had more of a defined motivator at some point, but yeah at this point it's just a thing I do so often that it comes pretty naturally.

44. Best piece of feedback you’ve ever gotten.

I think the most helpful advice I was ever given was to read what I write out loud. It really helped a lot with my dialogue - hearing it come out of my mouth really made it clear when something sounded "weird" - or "not weird enough" depending; but it also helped me get a relative sense for my pacing. I might not notice that a sentence is too long unless I start talking it out. It's really helpful!!

48. Favorite genre to write in.

Noir/Hardboiled!!!! I'll settle for any kind of mystery narrative, but I especially love the tone and atmosphere of a good noir story or a hardboiled detective narrative. The particular language is just soooo fun to write and I get to play with some of my favourite character archetypes. A loser ex-detective and a washed out performer and a mysterious, cunning but sympathetic femme fatale...I'm in my happy place building up a narrative around beat-down characters trying to hold on just for this one last chapter in their storied lives.

23. big fan! winter is definitely the best season imo. i’m someone who’s almost always freezing, no matter the weather outside, so i definitely don’t bear rain, snow, or wind all that well in terms of body regulation. but i’m more than glad to wear knits and sweaters to remain warm and still enjoy all that nature has to offer in those months.

My sister has a headcanon that some of the cast (the gang? The og friends? Not sure) used to be fans of psychological horror-esque games (such as Omori) before Mari's death and now they still enjoy them but have to be super super careful of triggers. I really like that headcanon ngl 👀

Hi there! Sorry for the wait on this (Universe why so much work) but I've talked a little bit about this and I definitely want to expand on it because my Suntan mind is at work

So in their little friend group there is a big divide on scary things. It splits fairly down the middle with Mari, Sunny, and Kel loving scary things and Hero, Basil, and Aubrey very much not. Even a cheesy bad 80s monster movie with terribly fake effects and horrible acting will scare Hero and Basil, and so they try to avoid watching scary movies as a group. If the horror junkies get a hankering to watch something frightening, then Basil and Hero will go into the kitchen to bake or into the dining room to play a board game.

Aubrey likes to pretend she isn't scared of anything (mostly to spite Kel who likes to tease her) but truthfully she doesn't like scary movies. Even when she gets older she doesn't like them, but she hides it better from the Hooligans. Luckily Mari and Hero realize what's happening quickly, and usually Hero can pull her away by saying that he needs an extra hand for baking or their game is 3+ players.

When it comes to video games however, I think this is where it's just Sunny and Kel. Mari isn't a big gamer, it just doesn't really hit the kind of thing she enjoys. Mari is a quick person with a sharp mind, so she probably would get pretty bored at the beginning of games that is easy things. With horror games, even the psychological ones, she would just get bored too fast to enjoy them. Plus something about a video game is different than a movie she can't suspend her disbelief long enough for it to be enjoyable as an experience. She's too busy trying to win instead of trying to play.

So scary games are Kel and Sunny's thing. Usually the whole group is together, but there are a good amount of times where they break out into smaller groups to do things. So when the other four are off in their own little groups, Sunny and Kel will go up to Kel's room and use his gaming systems to play scary games. They have other games they play too, but they both like the ones that make them jump a little bit or think too hard at night.

Post canon after the truth has come out, it's hard to be in a full group together at first. There's a lot of emotions there, and being all in one place usually exacerbates those emotions. The easiest thing to do is to start in small bursts, seeing a few of each other for a small bit of time

So Kel chooses scary games. It's the perfect solution, it's something that only he and Sunny enjoys, and he knows none of them will bug them. Of course now he does his best to choose games that don't have certain things. He avoids any games with mentions of suicide, and he also avoids games that are about covering up people's deaths. After a particular game that leaves Sunny shaking, he also avoids games that deal with voices inside of someone's head. Overall though the games bring them a lot closer together. Kel and Sunny are able to let go of how awkward they're supposed to feel and get back to being the best friends they used to be. Having Sunny lean his head on his shoulder while watching him play through a game resets something in both of them that was lost all those years ago.

Okay okay so first things first!!!

Makoto Naegi - the Ultimate Clairvoyant

- He’s always been a little different from others, able to sense just before things go wrong, or guess what someone’s thinking right before they say it. It’s a talent, for certain, but he doesn’t like to think of it that way. To him, it’s just something that makes him weird and different; something he tries to downplay whenever he can. Unfortunately for him but VERY fortunately for us, Hope’s Peak knows exactly how talented he is.

- his important person is still Komaru! They’ve got a typical sibling relationship, teasing and arguing with each other and whatnot, but Makoto wouldn’t trade her for the world. She’s one of the only people in Makoto’s life that he trusts when she tells him that his clairvoyance is what makes him special, not what makes him a freak! She admires him so very much that she’s even tried learning how to read minds on her own! (She always fails, of course, but it means so much to Makoto that Komaru would go to such great lengths to be like him!)

- his secret is still that he wet the bed until fifth grade because honestly it’s just so ridiculous and i couldn’t think of a good replacement. his initial reaction is still “who would ever kill someone over secrets like these?” But his clairvoyance makes him immediately understand that he is in a bit of a different boat than everyone else when it comes to their secrets

- some extra stuff is that he usually figures out who the culprit is either before or during the trial, but never says anything because he’s worried he’s misinterpreting/just flat out wrong

- chapter three is a bitch to me specifically because it involves him recognizing what Leon was trying to do and THEN recognizing that Leon is ACTING all mad and scared and stuff and isn’t really trying to get away with the crime at all. It breaks Makoto’s heart because what the fuck :)

- um um um Celeste usually comes up to him once a body has been discovered and she’s like “yo. who did it” and he just gives her these weird garbled nonsense words that even he doesn’t understand yet but that supposedly point to the killer

Chihiro Fujisaki - the Ultimate Affluent Progeny

- first of all she’s trans because I say so and she’s not ashamed or closeted or anything she’s literally just trans <3

- second of all she is simply a spoiled little rich girl!!! I LOVE HER CHARACTER SO MUCH IN THIS AU ACTUALLY BECAUSE. UNLIKE TOGAMI SHE’S NOT ACTIVELY TRYING TO ANTAGONIZE ANYONE. she is simply like “I don’t like this game :( we shouldn’t sentence anyone to death because that is like killing them ourselves :( we should all die together and stand up to monokuma :)” what’s actually happening is that she doesn’t quite understand what she’s saying!! It hasn’t quite registered yet that death is actually on the table for everyone, and that’s what makes her carefree attitude abt the voting so dangerous! Especially when she starts getting people on her side!

- her important person is her father!!! She’s Taichi’s special little princess, and he wants the world to know it!! He spoils her rotten and thinks she’s the sweetest thing in the whole world!!

- her secret is that her family business is completely amoral and utilizes slavery and unethical business practices in order to stay ahead of the competition. Because. You know. They’re capitalists.

- just to hammer it home how out of touch with reality she is, she proudly announces this “secret” to the rest of the cast as if it’s not big deal.

- I would like it on record that she is not bad, just very very sheltered. Her heart is good; she genuinely loves and cares about her “friends” and wants to see them succeed, she just doesn’t understand that not everyone thinks the same way she does.

- like he is just “oh my god this adorable child is telling me to kill myself and everyone else for the sake of one person yes I approve wholeheartedly” WRITING PRODIGY TOGAMI IS A DIPSHIT I LOVE HIM

- he gets so offended whenever Celeste DARES to disagree with Chihiro like he straight up goes into one of those bullet time battle minigames at one point

- Celeste is three seconds away from punting Chihiro across the room at all times btw

- JILL SLAPS HER AT ONE POINT I THINK. I FORGET IF IT’S JILL OR TOKO BUT IT’S ONE OF THEM

Toko Fukawa (& Genocide Jill) - The Ultimate Swimming Pro

- there are other alters but Toko and Jill are the two that front the most. Toko is a host and Jill is a protector

- Toko is the one with the title of ultimate swimming pro, not Jill. Some of the other alters have created fake “ultimates” to call themselves, hence why Jill considers herself the “ultimate murderous fiend.”

- Jill has never murdered anyone, btw. I’ve seen this headcanon before, I’m not sure where, but she was formed when the system saw a news report about a killer named “genocide Jack” when it was very young. Jill went by Jack for a good long while, but she’s actually trans and considers Jack to be her deadname

- I KNOW WE’RE TALKIJG ABOUT THE TALENTSWAP AND NOT GENERAL HEADCSNONS BUT LIKE. I HAVE TO GET THESE OFF MY CHEST

- Jill is just an edgy protector who threatens people as a defense mechanism. She’s loud and brash because she knows it disconcerts people enough to bide time for the system to escape the situation if need be. While she may seem reckless, she actually chooses her words very carefully so as not to escalate a situation beyond what is reasonably within her control.

- OKAY BACK TO SWIMMER TOKO

- so basically. after sustaining the trauma of her childhood, and after the alters have formed (Toko Fukawa is the legal name of the system and also the name of the host) Toko found her passion and safety in swimming. She discovered that it relaxed her and even helped with keeping her grounded a lot of the time! It’s something she tries to do everyday; it’s a coping skill that means a lot to her!!

- toko’s important “person” is still Kameko! She just loves things that other people consider to be “ugly” 🥺 to her, Kameko is one of the prettiest things in the world!!

- the secret is that Toko once poisoned an opponent of hers with laxatives in order to win a swim meet 😶 she does not feel bad about it KSHSMSND

- TOKO AND HINA (ult martial artist) POG!!!! they are fwiends 🥰👉👈

- I REMEMBER NOW

ooh this one's fun! now herlock is a boxer, both in doylist canon AND probably in tgaa canon given his fighting sprite, but he also looks like a strong breeze would blow him over and is by no means impervious to being kicked in the shin. i also think he's drunk more than enough of his own experiments out of curiosity in order to have some sort of effect—whether that's good or bad, i can't say.
