Fawn and woman coexist in a moment; she gestures an invitation. "The fawn?" I ask, intruding. I feel the distance spread between us. She smiles and I watch the fawn, remembering to wonder, but I do not linger long for dusk is gathering and I have many streets and many deer to go.
