After my professor graciously allowed me to use TTS to do this video presentation because I have a stutter and recording my voice tends to be hell, I just spent an hour and a half trying to find a single website or app that would allow me to download an mp3 of TTS. This could have had an essay option but noooo it's more accessible for me to write the essay, plug it into some website, and then have my professor listen to the slow drone of a barely fluent AI voice. No part of the rubric even relates to the verbal portion there's no point to this
I could have probably recorded 3 takes and edited out all my disfluencies in less time and with less effort
had a peculiar stammer last Monday, usually my stammers happen when I talk fast, but now I was talking slowly.
''How are...how are...how are you doing?''
this ''slow stammer'' also happened during a presentation over a month ago.
''Kang...kang...kangeroo court.''
it feels so weird to be so conciously aware of a stammer again, it feels like being trapped in the moment.
it's not even only that it was slow for a stammer, in general I was talking much slower than usually.
...and when I had a meeting with my tutor last week I even had a full-on block that I was not able to frown away, and I had to go around it.

is disorganize speech due to mental illness/neurodivergence count disfluency? if so, culture is when having harder time with words, is translates to text, so even if not stutter because you are not talk out loud, still have trouble to make people understand you

Yāall know that ādonāt write strong female characters, write strong male characters who happen to be femaleā mindset?? Yeah itās amazing and the same goes with being disabled or non fluent. (Without rooting my own horn) Iād like to say Iām one of the better players in the band, and yet some people only refer to me as the āstuttering playerā. Iām not the stuttering player, Iām 1st chair and one of the drum majors who happens to have a stutter. Thereās a difference. If you donāt have any kind of disability Iām sure itās difficult to understand, but donāt define those with disabilities as āoh this is my disabled friendā or āhow about you go ask the drum major?ā āWhich one?ā āThe stuttering oneā. Itās degrading.

If iām not talking really slowly and planning out words, my words and sounds tend to slur together and i mix around the sounds of words a lot. Would that fit into disfluency?
Awww anon first off you donāt need to apologize for stressing me. Youāre not. I really enjoy being able to help people even in small ways. As for your question, disfluency is not a very well-researched topic, so a lot of us are playing it by ear. If you feel like some of the things said here resonate with you, then let them! It seems like you might have a bit of a lisp, which is typically more voice-centered than fluency-centered. Lisps are common if you have any other mental or physical issues, so if you want to, Iād 100% recommend you ask your doctor about it the next time you see them. Is this a good enough answer?
Ticcing, stammering, and lisp culture is being told that they're not very noticeable or "cute" and feeling like your problems have been reduced to a little "quirk" of yours.
Iām not even gonna try to put this in the tags. Guys, I shouldnāt need to say this, but your disfluencies are perfectly valid and so are you. You an autistic adult with vocal tics? That doesnāt make you ANY less of an adult. You a teen with a stutter? You deserve the ABSOLUTE same love as your friends. Do you have touretteās? Well guess what, your tics arenāt cute or funny, theyāre serious matters that demand respect. Your speech does NOT define who you are. You define who you are, the question is if you want to keep going even with whatever hinderance you have. You are seen, you are valid, and you donāt need to calm down.
