The Sound of Halfway Down

There's a whistling in the air that I just don't have the time for, It's not that I don't care mind you of course But my mind is racing and time is running short. I guess the great blazing I'd predicted Has delivered it's retort in the form of a great SNAP As the brass ran across my body and swept me off the edge, Tumbling, tumbling, tumbling, tumbling Delivering unto me the sound of halfway down.

I kept good company in my stead to keep the pain at bay, Tried desperately to change the outcome or to calculate the ways. The hatred brewed new hate in me; La Haine c'est une moissonneuse, Wore convictions just like armour dressed in such a pretty gown, But more oft than not I lost my plots, such led me here today. I've played the fool and heard the rules From the sound of halfway down.
