NGL, I feel bad for Surviving Earth the more that I think about this.
First, it had its release date delayed to hell and back, even after the damn thing was finished in late 2024
Either Haines and/or NBC downplayed the environmental message (more than likely NBC)
and now the shit about AI that he said at Dinocon..
Just know that NONE of this is Surviving Earth's fault. Sure, it's not the most accurate or well-edited show. If anything, it's been downplayed and delayed to hell and back. Between that how and Haines literally told the audience about another paleodoc that's currently NDA (and one that he has zero part in to boot), that's... certainly a fuckin' choice, but hell now. While I get that he's been big on tech and how to show off dinosaurs, Tim definitely didn't take into account on how his stance would go with his fanbase. I'm being way too cautiously optimistic for comfort, but I'm hope at the VERY fuckin' least is that he realized what he was going on about was dumb as hell, and walks back on it. Either and/or retiring. Just ANYTHING for him to actually get the hint.
Also a very good time for this reminder; Generative AI has ZERO place in paleomedia in the same vein as how it has zero business in any other form of media.
I hope that Tim gets a second chance, but part of it is him realizing this to the tee. Mark my fuckin' words, I'm gonna GO ALL FUCKIN' OUT for the full series review. I'm planning to have it be a full guide and abridged take on my thoughts with the series, and that includes what we've seen here today.
