put some good use to my lilâ fella. maaaaan, did he leave that spoon sparkling.
ahhhh the everyday monument: pinky ring. my initial object was a teeny tiny battery pack, but after many tries and expending all of my chicken wire i couldnât get the dimensions right and instead i ended up with two very long, unproportional noodle batteries. so i scrapped it and decided to do the first thing that caught my attention: my pinky ring. this was all done in the span of 8 hours. while it may not be as detailed as the battery pack, i still think it was well crafted, considering that the chicken wire wouldnât stand on itâs own, so i had to reinforce the whole damn thing. in the end iâm satisfied with my second choice.

for the âpen, no paperâassignment, i wanted to capture some of the areas of the body that humans usually tend to reach for when theyâre anxious or overwhelmed. this semester has been quite overwhelming for me, and i thought that this would be a good outlet to some of the built up tension i had within me. it was pretty diffuclt painting my hands with a pen and trying to get the ink to transfer so i had to pass a wet brush over my hands and stamp it on a couple times. overall, i think iâm most satisfied with this assignment, mostly because it means something to myself.
pretty straight forward process video. i didnât want to hot glue or permanently paste the foil to the toys because 1. i wanted to keep one of them and 2. i wanted to return the rest. instead i just covered and molded the foil to fit their figures. looking back at it, i wish i had chosen maybe an overstuffed bear, the end result of my lilâ fellas just look like lumpy baked potatos.
my original source was a bed sheet, freshly stripped from my own bed. my mother unfortunately threw it out in the middle of the process, so i gathered these lilâ fellas last minute. i wanted to maintain the idea of something comforting and something pertaining to oneâs room (sheet, pillow, stuffed toy etc.), so i thought these guys would make a fine replacement.
