Oh boy, re-branding!
Over the years, what it means to beĀ ādignifiedā has changed a lot for me. In my early days, it was a reference to my tendency to be very formal and highfalutin around new people. Nowadays, though, I feel like I want to foster a more relaxed, down-to-earth understanding of what it means to be dignified.
The American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language lists the following as one possible definition ofĀ ādignityā: Inherent nobility and worth, as isĀ āthe dignity of honest labor.ā The most essential meaning of the wordĀ ādignifiedā is to show or possess dignity. When put together, these create a mindset in which one doesnāt need to put on pretenses to be dignified; as long as one believes in oneās inherent worth - inherent dignity - as a human being, then one is always dignified.
I look forward to bringing you all on my journey to celebrate the beauty of not just the extraordinary, but of the adequate, the acceptable, and the okay. I still mess around with fancy fashion and high-concept art, of course, but my deepest creative desire these days is to learn to simply let myself create instead of being held back by fantasies of world-shattering greatness.
I have inherent worth.
I have dignity.
I am Dignified.
