Final Homage Recreation Image
Original Artist Image
Brief Evaluation
What did you try to do? I have tried to recreate the artists image given to me by my tutor the best I can by trying to recreate the scene as closely as i could to the original. I tried to decide what I felt the key elements to the image was so that i could ensure i try to infiltrate this into my homage recreation.
What were the key elements you tried to recreate? After visually analysing the image, I decided they key elements within the image was the lighting, position of the model, red curtains, orange lamps and bright window light. I tried to recreate as much as i could using props however the one thing i didn’t have access to on location was the lamp, therefore i shot this separately and added it into my image.
What did you find hard? I originally struggled with coming to terms with the fact that i would not be able to recreate the image exactly for geographical purposes. I knew i wouldn’t be able to recreate it as much as id like to because i couldn’t copy the location exactly so i had to make sure i could try and make use of props to help my recreation.
What do you think was successful? I think my overall homage attempt was fairly successful, i tried my best with the use of props to try and recreate the location. I didn’t scout cafe’s for a place to shoot, i already had an idea in mind of where to shoot that had a similar layout or at least one i could work with. I think the lighting i managed to replicate went fairly well with the aid of digital software to finalise that.
What would you improve on next time? Next time i would try to collect the lamps to include in my original shoot rather than shooting it separately and adding it in as i feel it doesn’t look very authentic. It does look false but i feel it works because of the concept behind trying to recreate the image. Usually i would try to avoid producing composite images like this without it being apparent as i feel trying to pass of a composite image as a single image is not easy. I would also try to maybe find somewhere that had a similar scene through the window however i could not find a location with both.
