Son-Goku is a name that has been echoing throughout the ages, ever since I was a kid nothing would lift up my spirits more than taking on an episode of Dragon Ball. Especially for a 90s kid, the one true anime hero who has ever dared to exist is none other than our beloved Saiyan Kakarot.
In his resume you will find feats like, saving the earth and humanity on several occasions. He has always pushed ahead, harder with no personal agenda whatsoever other than his lust for growing stronger and facing the strongest warriors across the Dragon Ball Universe. No, we will not forget Vegeta and his contributions either, right from his arrival on earth as a loathsome Saiyan to his rise as a humane family man. He indeed has had a very long journey over the years wherein his character has transformed on many occasions to appease the fans with his unrealistic Saiyan pride.
Yet, here we are almost 30 years ahead in time since the arrival of Goku on planet earth as a kid. Various series & manga, cannon or non-cannon have passed by in so many years and none of them failed to highlight the greatness of Son-Goku. Starting his journey from Dragon Ball through Z and GT and many more movies finally led to a masterpiece unveiled 3 years ago known as āDragon Ball Superā. This portrayal of Goku that brings him on par with the likes of Beerus, a god of destruction, has had fans hooked on to their sets for quite some time now. Long gone are the times of Lord Freeza ruling over the universe, out here he turns out to be a mere pawn and the universe in which earth resides itself has turned in to nothing but a minute part amongst 12 other vast universes of the Dragon Ball Verse.
Still, what does this mean for our main protagonist? More opportunities to face stronger fighters and yet again rise above all, after all his Zenkai Boost is massive and unusual. Further, after all the super Saiyan transformations over the years, it looks as though Goku has finally reached a saturation point. The current arc of the show āThe Tournament of Powerā which probably is the last one has only 2 more episodes remaining in it before the series comes to an end. Over the past few episodes, we saw Goku who is at the pinnacle of his power being owned and thrashed by Jiren the Grey, a fierce warrior from the universe 11 whose power is so formidable it renders the other gods of destruction speechless. But as awesome as Goku always is he didnāt disappoint us and yet again exceeded everyoneās expectation when he unlocked āMigatte No Gokuiā or āUltra Instinctā during his battle with Jiren, a state of mind which is even hard for a god of destruction to achieve.
After being beaten to the batter by his formidable opponent, Goku rose to his former glory with a silver sparkle in his eyes and surprises as well as surpasses everyone else. Up to the extent that all the remaining gods of destruction had to stand up to respect our beloved G.O.A.T Son-Goku.
Unfortunately, we canāt run away from the fact that we wonāt be seeing any more of Son-Goku on Sunday evenings to send a chill down our spine. But it is a definite promise that the last two episodes of this series are going to be a treat to remember. We await the end of the series on 25th of March as well as for the upcoming December movie based on the origins of Saiyans. We also heartily hope that this is not the end but a hiatus and Goku like always will surprise his entire fan base with his presence sometime soon in 2019.
