I made this ring with junk around the house.
Fun fact: the dice is actually a toothbrush I chopped up.
It's here!!! I got the dice ring and both versions of the nail wraps. Now I'm just waiting for the necklace to arrive!!!
Considering getting a dice ring (like this), and I just realized that this could double as an ace ring. idk, probably not going to go through with it because of money, but an interesting thought I suppose.

Welp, at this stage it is vanishingly unlikely that I will find my dice ring (I keep feeling like it should be die ring but that’s not what it’s called by the manufacturers). This poses two problems.
One, my brain is going "I want MY ring!" like a toddler and I am trying to tell it "It's okay, we can get a new ring" but it's like “NO IT WON’T BE MINE I WANT MINE” and overall I feel a bit like I am failing at babysitting myself. This is an unpleasant feeling, which does not improve the situation.
Two, I actually use that ring for practical purposes. It’s a spinner ring. In addition to being a nice subtle stim toy to help me stay calm in high stress situations, it is specifically what I use to keep myself from picking at scabs, and with the lovely crop of bug bites I brought home from the Doom Hike I am kind of tearing my arms up right now. (I’m sure the internet at large REALLY needed to know that. Blarg. I’m leaving it anyway, because context.) Also, it is in fact a d10, and I use it as such. In addition to being handy for gaming, I sometimes use it when I’m having trouble making decisions. On occasion when I’m in a situation that is stressful but I’m trying to stick with it anyway I’ll invent a dice pool for my ability to keep at it, roll, count up my successes (by Exalted rules, so anything above a 6 and 10 counts twice), and decide whether I rolled enough successes to stay or not. (Sometimes the process of doing this is enough to ground me even if I didn’t roll well.)
So I don’t WANT a replacement, but I probably NEED one. I was thinking maybe I could pick up a cheap-for-jewelry plain black spinner ring somewhere, so I have one but I’m not exactly replacing the old one, and as a bonus it wouldn’t look weird in a formal setting? But that might be a waste of money, since if I do get a new dice ring later I’m sure I’ll just go back to wearing it 24/7 and a different one will go unused. It’s not like formal wear comes up a lot in my life. But if I get a new dice ring it will LOOK like mine but it will not BE mine and somehow this bothers me, even though in point of fact it will belong to me. I. ...I need an off switch.
Well, damn it.
I removed my dice ring (a spinner ring that doubles as a die, a d10 in my case) during the ride home from the Doom Hike and stuck it in the little indent in the car door along with my glasses and necklace, because I started throwing up and somehow thought it would improve the situation if I removed my jewelry and glasses. My necklace and glasses made it home, but the ring’s missing, and after searching every place I could think of that it could have ended up I’m forced to conclude that it is actually gone. I’d been avoiding checking the floorboards of the car because it made me feel a little less freaked out if I told myself it was “probably” there, which is why I’m coming to this conclusion two weeks after the trip instead of one day.
I know it’s just a ring, but it was my ring, and Kate gave it to me, and it was a spinner ring so I used it to calm down when I was freaked out. This is actually highly distressing? I’m being ridiculous but I just really want my ring back. I can buy a replacement easy enough but I want MINE. Augh. I want to hide in a blanket fort forever and possibly cry.
Someone messaged me privately to ask why I carry a set of dice in my purse when I could just wear a dice ring. I was like, "I backed the Kickstarter so I already have a d20 dice ring, but it's heavy and not for everyday wear. Plus, who wants to give up space on seven fingers to have a full set on them?" Also, dice rings don't come in purple.
