dia.lo.gue & Mushsy Oysters
It’s been a while. As cliche as I am, planning on updating this blog every Saturday is actually really hard. So here’s a recap of my January holiday.
I arrived in Jakarta on the 23rd of January, along with my friend, Firyal’s her name, who’s coming to do KKN-P. It’s a kind of an internship program you can say, but we were not in the office everyday so it’s not that intense. We were just gathered some data needed for the topic that we took, did some consultation (we consult with my dad, lol), and that’s it. From here on, I just need to gather some motivations to start working on the reports, and it’s REALLY hard to find some. I’m still on holiday
Here was my first weekend in Jakarta. We met our old friend, Rati, who moved to UI because she wants to chase her dream of going to one of the best uni in Indonesia (not that my uni is bad, haha). We went to Dia.Lo.Gue which is a place I wanted to visit since God knows when. It claimed to be an art gallery, cafe, and shops. There’s also this famous metal stairs on which people often take pictures there, that it somehow become the main attraction of the gallery.
I wasn’t very impressed when I first arrived. I thought the spaces are going to be huge, like you can go through each room and see what’s in store in each, but turned out the major half of the building is the cafe. There’s a garden but nothing much to see. Well maybe because there’s currently no event being held. So there’s no option but to sit down and order some drinks for a bit.
For the food and drinks, they’re quite pricey from me. The food starts from about IDR 40k, but I think it’s not worth it. The drinks’ price range starts from about IDR 25k, so it’s all good. The cafe ambiance is not that bad. The best spot to take pictures is probably the outer side of the cafe because it surrounded by glass doors, so the sunlight came very nicely.
Picture taken in the inner side of the cafe, which was pretty dark I had to increase the brightness of the picture
The current exhibition being held was TIGA NEGERI:PERANAKAN FASHION & COLLECTION OF EDWARD HUTABARAT, DIDI BUDIARDJO & ADRIAN GAN (yes I copy paste it from their website). I think it exhibit some artifacts and batik clothings of Chinese and Indonesian from way back when. The display was quite nice. Again, I had problem with the space.
Another nice photo spot is the back garden. The sunlight always does the job, so you can never go wrong.

I don’t remember much what happen that day, but nothing very special really. Just that I finally fulfilled my urge to try out oysters. I thought you can only get oysters at a fancy restaurant, but Fish & Co. actually sell them. They sell 3 and 6 pieces on one plate. I chose the 3 pieces one, which cost about IDR 79k.
I was expecting the oysters to be small, probably about the size of the green clam you know. Turned out, they were huge! I feel like I’m about to puke just by seeing it but it doesn’t taste very bad. If you ask will I eat it again, probably not. It taste like a regular clam but more mushy and fishy, since I ate it raw. To overcome the fishy part, I need to squeeze so much lemon juice and tabasco, also I just plainly suck a slice of lemonade lol.
Initially, I want to eat it whole straight from the shell like they do in culinary channels but I can’t. Apparently they’re too big, or is my mouth too small?
