Ever-since Alexia first had made her name known to them, plunging William into frantic, foolish, attempts to surpass her and prove himself to their peers, Albert had assumed a certain role in the equation, to mitigate the damage. As Arklay's other head researcher at the time, he had no choice but to remain in control, manage William's outbursts and ill-conceived, wasteful experiments, and keep the rest of the staff in line and occupied.
Fifteen years had passed since then, but not much had changed, it seemed.
"We have had this conversation, before." More than either of them would have liked to. "I cannot give you what you desire, William."
'I want to.'
"I have no aspirations to be your secret." That was rich. Secrets were all they had been able to be for one another, once. But, that was then. They were young and the world outside of Arklay felt far away.
"Do not be so reckless," Paying him a visit in person, to his apartment, at such a late hour was hardly proper conduct for an esteemed scientist in charge of such a large operation, let alone for one with a wife and child. "you are no longer a child and it is time I stop treating you like one."
"Make peace with your choices."
"I certainly have."
It felt like each one of their meetings turned sour, as of late. He supposed, there was no reason for this one to be any different.
More NPC posting!
Laura Hanson. More commonly known as 'Morgan' via her radio persona.
The host of Yarrcoon Central from 95' to 98' - A pirate radio station local to RC. Corpo hater. Animal lover. And an A grade cutie. (her words)
Laura, with the assistance of a few fellow nerds from college, operated her station from an abandoned water tower, in the evenings since 6pm to 2am, playing (very illegal, very pirated) music in between. Despite criticism and both law enforcement and Umbrella attempting to find her and shut her down, Laure managed to keep the station going for almost three years, with only a few interruptions.
She delivered local news, let people chat with her and vent their concerns, and informed the locals of gossip and different local happenings. Laura was aggressively anti Umbrella and was a passionate wildlife activist, often getting quite heated in her discussions.
'Morgan' had a very happy-go-lucky persona most of the time and people found her fun and charming. The station, of course, had no ads or sponsors, so it was often a random mess of all kinds of music through the day, while Laura's peppy voice livened things up towards the night.
She was also a very empathetic person that was happy to offer aid and advice, which was what she did in the final week of her life, keeping the station going until she succumbed to her infection, allowing people to communicate through her, helping them find one another in the city and to find ways to evacuate. Her identity was known to only a few until after the outbreak, with her family and friends later revealing her name, to honour her work and memory.
