Lunchtime
Dez keeps her special dietary needs a secret from her classmates (and well, everyone at NRC) for obvious reasons.
Lantern blossoms are a rare treat for Magic Eaters, due to the amount of magic needed to sustain the plants, but are also popular because the magic these flowers generate tastes especially sweet!
But, one must wonder what a big patch of such a rare flower is doing in NRC’s greenhouse… oh well! Hopefully no one will notice if a few go missing…
Taste (or lack thereof)
Magic eaters like Dez are born with Ageusia, meaning they can’t taste “normal”, re; physical food. This doesn’t really affect them, as non-magical foods hold little to no nutritional value for them. Additionally, most prefer to consume magic directly from their chosen source, rather than waste time with the physical act of eating.
Dez is an exception, as they liked to eat and pretend they were human long before coming to Night Raven. This ultimately ends up helping her blend in with her peers, though many question her positive reception to certain foods… oh well! Surely no one will catch on!
