Army of Two The Devil's Cartel Trailer (Gamescom 2012) Started on the co-op with my sis again.
My wife and I love couch co-op on the PS3. I canāt tell you how many times weāve been looking forward to a game based on big hype only to be disappointed to learn there was no support for local co-op modes. Army of Two: Devilās Cartel stands out because itās specifically built to tackle that.
With that, Rachel and I decided to check out the demo. The relatively light-weight download gives you a look at one fast-paced mission where the primary objective is to an extraction point. Of course, there are plenty of mean-spirited baddies along the way.
Upon starting up the game, you and your partner are given the chance to customize your respective loadouts where you can choose weapons, change their style, switch to a stylish new mask, and more. Careful though, youāve only got a limited about of cash on hand for upgrades and youāll have to complete missions and earn acheivements to unlock more cool stuff. The demo blocks many of these options but Iām looking forward to making my character my own upon release.
Now we roll right into a pretty epic cut scene that really sets to town for the action blockbuster type feel. It feels like a huge hard hitting buddy shooter movie with Alpha and Bravo in the lead roles. Weāre surrounded by cartel members when, just in the knick of time, a couple of our teammates bust in and shoot the place up. We grab some gear and head out to the extraction point.
The gameplay is snappy and a lot of fun. Many objectives require you to strategically work with your partner and plan things out or make quick decisions between the two of you. Fans of the series will already be familiar with these concepts but the much imporved controls and quicker feel make it a lot more enjoyable this time around.
This short demo built our already hyped anticipation for this release. Iām looking forward to picking it up on March 29th (available on both Playstation 3 and Xbox 360) and teaming up for some killer co-op moments.
